The Fugitive Unit arrested Paul Ray Witherspoon at his residence in Garland on a warrant issued by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Parole Board on May 3, 2011, for a parole violation for sending nude pictures of himself through the Internet. Witherspoon was sentenced to 16 years in prison after being convicted in Williamson County in 1990 of sexual assault of a child, a 14-year-old girl. Witherspoon was sentenced to six years in prison for indecency with a child by sexual contact. The victim in that case was a 15-year-old girl. Witherspoon was on parole for this second offense [..]

Transgender woman on parole for child sex assault

DALLAS - From the purse to painted fingernails, Paula Witherspoon said she has been living as a transgender woman since 2006.

Last Wednesday, she was using a women's restroom at Parkland Hospital when someone reported her to police.

"I came out, washed my hands and I come out of the restroom, and there was a lady outside who said, 'Oh, that's a man,'" Witherspoon said. "I just ignored her."

Parkland's police report gives few details, but says the woman who reported Witherspoon "became afraid."

Witherspoon was cited for disorderly conduct.

She claims to carry a letter that explains her transgender rights. But News 8 has learned Paula Witherspoon isn't just a transgender woman.

Her real name is Paul Ray Witherspoon.

According to state records, he was sentenced to 16 years for sexual assault of a child in 1990, and six years for indecency with a child.

Parkland police discovered all this information during questioning, along with the fact that Witherspoon is still on parole.

"It's not something I'm proud of, you know," admitted Witherspoon, who added that she was doing nothing in the restroom that would make anyone uncomfortable.

In this case, Witherspoon insists she is the victim of discrimination.

"We need to stand up for our rights," she said. "And that's what I'm doing. I'm not doing anything for myself, as much as transsexuals who follow after me, trying to transition."

Did Witherspoon's criminal record make a difference in Parkland's reaction? Parkland officials will only say the incident is under review.

I have a really hard time accepting biological men in the restroom with me, I just don't like it. It's uncomfortable. Whether he FEELS like a she is not the factor....the fact is your penis is sharing the facility with my vagina & I DON"T LIKE IT. Penis carriers go to the stick figure WITHOUT a dress.

And from experience I can tell you that trying to explain to a 3yr old boy & 9 yr old girl why 5 men in dresses are in the ladies room is a VERY hard question to answer. And I'm an open book with my kids!

I know of a bar here that to cut on discrimination issues has a 3rd unisex bathroom.....maybe that's a way to make life easier for everyone.

That's the think Tkaz, you don't have to accept it. the push is always to make you accept it, but when push come to shove and you are sitting in a stall next this IT, there is no normalizing it.

I do have an issue with the bathroom stuff.You can "live like" whatever gender you want to, except when it comes to public toilets. Otherwise (unless you are child molesting scum), live and let live. But this one here is a creep that needs to be taken off the street, period. And he looks like something out of a Saturday Night Live sketch in that bottom pic, with that red lipstick and shit. He seriously needs a strand of pearls with the matching earbobs. Hilarious.

I have no doubt that you would be perfectly happy camping in a bathroom with a bunch of men pretending to be women. But most people would not.

However I can understand the concern some may have, personally feel you should use the bathroom you physically fit
If you have a python use the man's, you have a slit use the woman's
Maybe it's just me, but I don't understand why a transgender needs to use the opposite bathroom

One of the things that surprised me the most on my visit to New York last year was how many of the diners and restaurants had unisex toilets: No choosing male or female, there was just "the toilets". Suited me. And maybe that is the way to go?

I HAVE been in the bathroom where a cross dresser was besides me. So what?
I have been in the men's room at both gay and non-gay bars.
There is a bar in Fort Lauderdale that had one bathroom with 2 stalls. Therefore I have peed when a man is right beside me.

One of my closest friend is a male to female transgender.

we were in the mall, and we had to pee. I was SO confused why she didn't come in the restroom with me. It didn't hit me until later.

She's not going to be like... peeking over/under the stall to catch a peek. Jeeez people. lol That's so funny to me.

Are you afraid of peeing near lesbian women? Think they're gonna be peeking into your stall to get a look-see at your vag? hahahaha!

So ... this is just my opinion. I suspect there is more to this story. If M. Witherspoon was honestly doing nothing suspicious, there would be absolutely no reason for anybody to do anything other than mind their own goddamn business, and certainly no reason to call the police.

but on other hand hes on parole for indecent acts with a child
and we dont know what his parole conditions are
Maybe hes not allowed around kids like many others
