Elijah Greenhttp://www.chicagotribune.com/news/l...0,416911.storyA Chicago man already on probation for a cocaine conviction was arrested again on Monday for carrying more than a dozen small bags containing the drug into a drug-treatment facility at the Cook County Jail, according to authorities.
Elijah Green, of the 2300 block of South Kedzie Avenue, was charged with bringing contraband into a penal institution, a felony, after 14 bags of cocaine were found on him while he was being searched by sheriff’s personnel at the jail’s day reporting center, said Andy Conklin, a Cook County state’s attorney’s office spokesman.
Due to his latest arrest, prosecutors filed a petition arguing that Green violated his probation for his conviction in February for possession of a controlled substance, Conklin said. Green was sentenced to 30 months probation for that crime.
On Tuesday, he was ordered held without bail on the probation violation until at least May 8.
