Student Abandoned For Five Days In DEA Holding Cell Drinks Urine
San Diego, CA – Back on April 20th, a day of the year many marijuana smokers set aside to demonstrate their appreciation for THC, 23-year-old University of California, San Diego student Daniel Chong was attending a party with friends when the house was raided by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) on a bust.* Chong was taken into custody at a DEA facility in Kearny Mesa, questioned, and told by agents that was free to go home.* He was never charged with any crime, and was even offered a ride to his residence.
However, for some reason, he was instead placed in a 5′ x 10′ holding cell, where he was reportedly forgotten for five days without food, water, or human contact.* Though he could hear other prisoners and DEA employees speaking, his own voice was ignored until the final day of his detainment, at which point he was dangerously dehydrated, hallucinating, and in critical condition.
I’m still scratching my head as to why someone who is not being charged needs to be placed into a holding cell at all.
Over the course of those five days, Chong was forced to drink his own urine to survive.* “I had to do what I had to do to survive….I hallucinated by the third day,” Chong said.…
