HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A woman is accused of having sex with a young boy on multiple occasions, including while she was caring for him when his mother was in the hospital.
Karen Lee Carstens, of Riva, Maryland, is charged with sexual assault of a child under 17. According to court documents, Carstens was a friend of the victim's mother when she lived in the Houston area back when the alleged incidents occurred. The victim told police that Carstens began sexually assaulting him beginning at age 13 until he was 15.

Court documents state that Carstens, who is now 41, sexually assaulted the boy in the year 2007. Two years later, the boy says Carstens was caring for him while his mother was in and out of the hospital and that he had sex with Carstens during that time.

Police say the victim said Carstens told him not to tell anyone about their sexual relationship because she could get into trouble. He said the relationship ended when Carstens moved out of state in 2009.

Karen Carstens: Sexed Underage Boy While His Mom Was Hospitalized, Cops Say

When her good friend was hospitalized, Karen Lee Carstens volunteered to help watch her 13-year-old son.

For two years, cops say, she and the boy had a sexual relationship, one where he apparently was more worried about birth control than she was.

According to court documents, at one point the boy said he had intercourse with her and, although he ejaculated on her stomach, "he cried believing he had impregnated [Carstens] but [Carstens] assured him not to worry because her menstrual cycle was due soon."

At another point, the boy thought of another way to avoid pregnancy: anal sex.

The two were upstairs in his bedroom when he was 15 while his mother was again in the hospital.

The boy "stated that he asked [Carstens] if he 'could have sex up the ass because he didn't have a condom,'" the court documents say. "Complainant stated [Carstens] refused at first citing that it would cause her pain but agreed to the request. [The boy] stated that he inserted his penis inside [her] rectum and that he 'ejaculated' inside the anus."

The boy told investigators the sex had begun around 2007, when he was 13. (Carstens is now 41.) At first it involved the boy just touching her breasts and genitals, but soon, he said in the court documents, the defendant "sucked his dick" at least four times, including once in the family's living room.

Carstens has been charged with sexual assault of a child under 17, a felony. A warrant has been issued for her arrest, but she is not in custody.

I wonder how do they prove the allegations when the case happened years ago like this.
I guess what I wonder is if she will actually do any time for this crime she committed. It seems like
it would come down to he said/she said. I wonder why he finally decided to come out. I'm glad he did
so hopefully no other young boy is caught up in this woman's sick game. 13 year olds are not sexy. I don't care
how adorable they are.

I would be really hurt and betrayed if I were the mother. She trusted this woman to care for her son while she was sick and she did this. I would be irate.

Sadly she propbably will for a couple of reasons. Many people in society still don't view this woman doing what she did as wrong. They will view the boy as getting lucky while not realizing that yes,he was taken advantage of and abused,same as a teenage girl with an older male. The fact she's attractive and not ugly like Eaton was will also work in her favor.
This boy was vunerable and this predator took full advantage of that. And that's exactly what she is. She should have the book thrown at her.
