Maybe, maybe not. I have seen some built from I-beams and diamond grate that could withstand a hit from an ICBM. I have seen others that were built out of water pipe from Home Depot - probably by the bar owner's younger brother in exchange for all the beer he could drink while he was building it. In those cases, I can imagine someone watching some unanticipated group on it and thinking "Holy fuck. That thing's gonna go." Hell, I've said that while looking at some over the years.

You can take or reject my opinion on this. I am a mechanical engineer, though.

That said, I think it was all about the image the bar wanted to maintain. As others said - it's not unlike door rejections. She had a say - we all do - with patronage. That's capitalism.

Well, The type of platform I was referring to are ones that I've seen. Like a catwalk with railings, very sturdy and no way to fall off unless you REALLY try. Not ones that are bound to go if 5 smaller girls are on it.

I got sick and tired of being judged for being overweight. Instead of sitting around and whining about it, and making an ass of myself on national media, I DID something about it. I've lost 25+ pounds since Christmas, and have a little less than 50 to go to hit my goal weight.

I get it. It sucks being judged because you're fat. It sucks that they don't make cute swimsuits in your size in most stores. It sucks that if you do find something cute, in your size, it's more expensive than the regular sizes. It sucks that people look at you funny from the corner of their eyes in a restaurant. It sucks, flat-out.

But if the discrimination bothers you, blaming other people isn't going to help YOU. You either need to accept it or change how YOU feel about what other people think about you. Or do something about being overweight.

Well, @mommacrazy30 called it. The platform would have to come down because it's dangerous to drunks. I think it's an equitable solution, too.

I have to disagree with you, @HeatherHabilitory, that no one can have fun. It's still fun to dance. They just can't get up higher than most of the crowd to show off that they're having fun and are oh-so-hot. And fall off. I guess they'll just have to rely on being loud and/or wearing platform shoes now.

I agree completely. If you are not happy with you then do something about it. If you are happy being chubby, fat or obese you should not care what others think. I have been on both ends of the spectrum. When I gain a little weight and become "chubby" I typically don't care because I'm happy and if others stare oh well. When it gets to a point where I feel fat and no longer like buying the bigger uglier clothes I make an effort to lose the weight. For me if I don't keep up exercise regularly I gain weight. I can starve myself and nothing will change. I don't always have or make time for exercise so that's my fault.

I don't expect others to accept or change what they do because I chose to be fat. If I want to do what "skinny" people do I work my ass off and become a thin person too. Unfortunately for me I will never be a size 2 cause I have really curvy hips and broad ass shoulders. I'm perfectly okay with that.

I'll never be skinny either. I'll be size 12 at my goal weight, and I look FABULOUS when I'm that size.

I will say, that not everyone is overweight because they are just lazy. There are many factors to obesity. Genetics, medical issues, medications, etc. It's not just "not caring."

You are right there are people who have legitimate reasons for weight gain. However; people with medical problems and on medication usually aren't out shaking it at a club anyway. Maybe they do. Genetics may make you more prone to being big "like myself" but I can manage it with work. It does not come easy for me. Diet won't do it for me. I have to exercise and I have to do it regularly.

The smallest I have been is a 10/12. I absolutely cannot go smaller cause then my ribs stick out (they are wide too like my shoulders) I am probably the curviest person I know. My waist to hip ratio sucks because to find jeans to fit over my hips they often are too big on my waist. I own a lot of belts lol.

I just think the whole fat acceptence movement is stupid. I think whining cause you didn't get to dance on a platform is stupid. Really I mean who cares. If I really wanted to dance on a platform and was told no I would probably leave the bar and never come back. I'd find somewhere else to take my business (and $$$) Sure I would tell everyone I don't go to that bar cause the bouncers are pricks but I wouldn't stage a protest or make a big deal out of it.

Photos can be pretty deceiving. You really need a full shot to see if she is a Fattie. Sometimes you can tell by the face shot but not always.

This site is loaded with chubby girls. Lots of them look great behind the Taco Bell counter, but you get them out to your van in the parking lot with the waterbed and you can be seriously shocked at the morph from the waist or head down.

Right, if only someone had said that to people like Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr...then we wouldn't have to share our schools, bathrooms, and restaurants with black people huh? Yes, the real lesson here is don't fight discrimination, just learn to deal with it.

yeah I get what you are saying I am having a hard comparing her to Rosa Parks and Civil rights movement. Maybe if she a better platform for her complaint against discrimination it could be taken more seriously. I could care less if Ms. Chubby is allowed to dance on or off a platform. Her complaint as a whole seems very petty.

Personally don't care for club rules, has more to do with who you are or who you know
used to go to a place didn't allow jeans or leather always a line several doormen
I walked to the front, leather and jeans, guys always said hi, big smile and waved me in

I think part of this is just society changing for fat people ; it is a generation thing . This lady is 21 I'm almost 40 . When I was 15 I could not wear most trendy clothes cause they were not readily available in plus sizes . Jordan probably could buy whatever her skinny friends were buying her whole life . I'm not saying it is a flattering look , but we have all seen trendy clothes being made in big sizes . Most of the fatties I know that are my age do not want to wear things that look sexy on a size 8 person , but a lot of younger large women dress as their peers dress ; not to flatter their shape . I think as more and more things ( clothing , cheer-leading , homecoming queen , etc ) are available regardless of size issues young fat people will want more equality . I think she sees it as " I've been dressing like friends for years , doing the same activities , why can't I dance with them ? " . If the platform will hold them let 'em dance . If the club wants to ban fatty platform dancing they need to make a big sign near the platform "must have a BMI lower than __ to dance on platform " ; that way everything is out in the open , and there in no confusion .

Yes but men hide behind their computes while looking at fat chick porn. Most guys would pork a chubby chick given any opportunity but he wouldn't be bragging to his friends about it. Bars want to put out the image of being trendy, sexy and hot. That's what draws the men in. If your club is known for being heffer hang out you won't attract as many men or slender women because they skinny girls looking for guys won't go to that club since the men don't. It is bad for business as it's all about the club's image.
