Within seconds, she would be on the phone to Whitfield County's 911, calling for an officer to come to 905 Lindell Street in Dalton. It was past 2:00 Thursday morning.
Friday morning, the remnants of a love-gone-wrong, close-encounter-of-the-automotive kind, are scattered.
A White Chevy HHR sits in the back lot of a wrecker service, its front bumper trashed.
Trionfo's next door neighbor's front-wall fares much worse.
"Not only did she run into it once," Dalton Police public information officer Bruce Frazier says. "But she actually hit the building three times!"
"She climbed over the car," neighbor Cathy Flood says. "Went inside where she had busted through the wall."
'She', Dalton Police allege, is Sherie Leah Griffin, 47. Her Facebook page lists her credo as "I love having fun" and her favorite quote as, "wasn't me."
Four officers would respond after the first on scene reported seeing Griffin yelling at her now ex-boyfriend, Truman Bolden, and his new live in girlfriend.
Officer Nathan Pressley said in an incident report he was told by Whitfield 911 that a vehicle was ramming an apartment building at 905 Liddell St. A 911 dispatcher said the emergency call came in at 2:19 a.m.
“When I arrived on scene I observed a white PT Cruiser that was partially inside (the apartment) ... it was still running but nobody was inside,” Pressley said. “I heard a female yelling and screaming obscenities inside of the apartment. I looked through the hole in the wall that was created by the vehicle and observed a female, Ms. Griffin, yelling and pointing her finger at a male inside.”
Pressley stated he couldn’t open the door because of the damage and had to kick it open. He noticed Griffin “had slurred speech and was unsteady on her feet.” He also noticed she was bleeding from a minor arm wound and called for an ambulance and the fire department because of the structural damage. This has all the elements of great country song .“She said she was drunk and that she drove her car into (his) apartment because he had hurt her,” the report states. “(Pressley) asked Ms. Griffin how she was hurt and she stated that (he) had cheated on her.”
The man told Pressley that Griffin was an ex-girlfriend who had “burst into the apartment” a couple of days earlier when he was with the woman who was there Thursday morning and he “told (Griffin) to leave and not come back.” He stated they were watching TV early Thursday morning when Griffin “drove her vehicle into the wall directly where he and (the woman) were sitting,” according to the report.
“(Griffin) then backed her vehicle up and drove forward striking the wall again ... (and) backed up for a third time and drove forward striking the wall,” the report states. “(Griffin) then exited her vehicle and jumped across the hood ... to get into the apartment. (The man) stated (the woman he was with) then ran and locked herself into the bathroom. (Griffin) then continued to yell and scream at him until officers arrived.”
When an EMT told Griffin she needed to go to the hospital she “became combative” and had to be “physically carried to the stretcher, kicking and screaming, and be strapped down to it,” the report said.
At the hospital, Griffin told Pressley she had been drinking at a friend’s house and became “upset” about the way she had been treated by the man and wanted to “show him that he couldn’t treat people that way without consequences,” the report detailed. Pressley said an inventory of the vehicle turned up a “small bottle of Forty Creek Canadian Whiskey” in the driver’s side door.
