4 Month Old Baby Girl Dies of Shaken Baby Syndrome at Unlicensed Daycare Facility

I searched this and didn't it see it posted. Just another reminder why I don't put my kids in daycare. I know some people have too but remember it's so important to throughly check the place out and make sure it's licensed, no complaints ect.

Mount Prospect - A 4-month-old girl from Mount Prospect died of shaken baby syndrome Saturday afternoon.

Anna Belle Chung, of the 0-100 block of East Debbie Drive in Mount Prospect, was pronounced dead at Children’s Memorial Hospital at 11:44 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office, adding that the preliminary cause of death was shaken baby syndrome.

The baby suffered the injuries at a day care center in the 4200 block of Crimson Drive in Hoffman Estates, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Jimmie Whitelow, a spokesman for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, said the agency is investigating allegations of abuse in connection to Chung’s death. Whitelow declined to say who is being investigated, but he did say DCFS previously investigated the person for an allegation in May of 2010 that was determined to be unfounded. Whitelow also said the agency is not investigating Chung’s mother.

The girl’s father, Ken Chung, said family members were too distraught to talk.

“We’re going through a rough time,” Chung said. “It’s not a good time to talk.”

The day care location in Hoffman Estate is in a home in a residential neighborhood.

Public records list the daycare center as Sunflower Christian Montessori and its principal/owner as Leigh Ann Choi. A message left on the Montessori school’s answering machine was not immediately returned.

Hoffman Estates police did not return calls for comment.

An autopsy was not performed Sunday but is scheduled for Monday, according to a spokesman for the medical examiner's office.

Department of Children and Family Services spokesman Jimmie Whitelow said the agency is investigating allegations that the child was abused at an unlicensed daycare center at the Crimson Drive address.

"DCFS has had prior contact with the alleged perpetrator on an unfounded allegation of abuse in May of 2010 for a different child," Whitelow said.
I wonder if they were unlicensed when the first investigation happened and I wonder what the circumstances of the previous investigaton included.

Apparently this happened on Wednesday and she passed away Saturday morning (4/21)

The Department of Children and Family Services and police are investigating the death of a 4-month-old Mount Prospect girl who died three days after she was found unresponsive at a Hoffman Estates day care center.

Anna Belle Chung was unconscious and was not breathing when paramedics arrived at the day care center, which was run out of a private home, Wednesday morning, said Hoffman Estates Mayor Bill McLeod.
