NEW CASTLE (KDKA) — New Castle Police found crack cocaine in a toddler’s jacket pocket.
This happened when they raided the Grant Street apartment of 32-year-old Latonnia Lyles. Police also arrested her boyfriend, 19-year-old Rayjzon Sams.
They are both facing drug charges.
“A total of 49 individually-wrapped bags of crack cocaine, we found a small amount of pills, approximately $1,000 in cash and then we found around a pound of marijuana scattered throughout the house,” Lawrence County District Attorney Joshua Lamancusa said.
Police say they discovered drugs in the 2-year-old boy’s pocket as Lyles was handing him over to another woman outside the apartment.
Lyles was babysitting the boy.
“In the pocket, we found several little baggies of crack cocaine and pills,” Lamancusa said.
“The officers were very agitated at the scene because there was some information that at the time of the arrest, that those drugs were placed into the pocket of the child and then the child was being escorted out.”
The boy was turned over to Lawrence County CYS.
The district attorney said this is the second time drugs were found in the apartment.
