GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Deputies say an employee at a Simpsonville McDonald's was arrested after a customer said he got their sweet tea order wrong and spit in their drinks.
Greenville County deputies said they received a complaint on April 14 that someone who worked at the McDonald's on Main Street spit in their unsweet tea.
The customer said she ordered two sweet teas for herself and daughter at the drive thru and noticed they were not sweet, so they returned them hoping to simply exchange the drinks for new ones, then realized the new drinks were also unsweet, according to deputies.
Deputies said the customer said she decided to sweeten them herself at home, but when she took the lids off, she saw a large deposit of phlegm floating at the top of both drinks.
The victims called deputies, who investigated the incident and reviewed surveillance from the restaurant.
According to the warrant, 19-year-old Marvin Washington Jr. was seen filling up and serving the teas and was also seen leaning his face down to the drinks before filling them with tea.
Washington was charged with unlawful/malicious tampering with food. He was arrested on Wednesday
