High Heels Prove To Tough For Ronaldo Silva

A drug trafficker wore his wife’s clothes to escape from prison – but was caught after a policeman noticed he was “walking funny”.

Ronaldo Silva, 39 shaved his arms and legs then strode out of the front gate in a blue dress, wig, high heels and a dash of bright red lipstick.

He was picked up just 30 minutes later after an officer on patrol noticed he was unsteady on his feet.

Jail director Carlos Welber said Silva’s wife brought the clothes in during her weekly visit and went home in her husband’s Bermuda shorts.

Jail director Carlos Welber said: “He left the prison shortly after her, along with other inmates’ wives.

“He’d spent a long time shaving his legs and arms. There was a lot of preparation and premeditation involved in this."

According to Mr Welber, Silva’s wife admitted changing clothes with her husband but claimed she had no idea why he wanted them.

She had to leave wearing his bermuda shorts and another top she had brought in her bag as he wore her blue dress, bra and shoes.

Mr Welber added: “He was the one who demanded her clothes, at least that’s what she’s telling us. Of course we don’t believe her, but that’s her story.

“At the time it was visiting hour and there were more than 150 family members inside the prison. But we’re taking measures to ensure this doesn’t happen again.

“The policeman noticed that the woman was walking funny and looked strange.

“He followed him to the bus station, where two men were waiting on motorbikes to pick him up.

“The policeman approached him and managed to arrest him and bring him back, still dressed as a woman.”

Well, how mightily convenient that she just also happened to be wearing/carrying a wig on her for him to demand as well...
I hope he has fun living this down with the rest of the inmates now that he's back.

OK, it was visiting time and there were a lot of people milling around, but how did NO ONE notice a woman stripping off, and the guy she was visiting putting on the clothes she had removed?

I'm guessing the bolded option is most likely, and you're right...if they had been monitored properly this wouldn't have happened.

Yeah, the latter. But she probably left the clothes in the toilet stall for him to go retrieve, rather than handing them off to him, I'd imagine.
