A 26-year-old Milwaukee man is facing charges after he allegedly abused two young children in an Oak Creek home, including putting one of them in a running clothes dryer on multiple occasions.

Nicholas James Fuchs was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Thursday with three counts of physical abuse of a child, one count of second-degree reckless endangerment, one count of false imprisonment and one count of strangulation.

If convicted, he faces up to 74 years in prison and $165,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

From January through October 2011, Fuchs abused a 4-year-old and 5-year-old, unbeknown to the mother, while he lived with her in Oak Creek.

The children told police he would hit them on the bottom of their feet with a spoon and put their feet in a tub full of hot water. He also choked one of the children and pinched the penis of one child.

One child said they had urinated in their pajamas, so Fuchs put the child in a clothes dryer and turned it on. After further interviewing the children, police discovered he had done this on several occasions.

In July 2011, Fuchs broke an arm of one child. The incident was investigated as possible child abuse, but he said the injury was due to roughhousing.

What the ever loving fuck!!!??? Who the Hell does shit like this? I cannot understand these fucktards who put kids/babies in the washer/dryer. What the Hell does that do? I mean was he trying to kill her? How freaking stupid. And how the Hell did he get away with doing this so long? I'm guessing he babysat a lot but I find it odd the kids didn't say a word to their mother until now. My son will "tattle" on his daddy at age 2 anytime he gets in any trouble (for example a swat on the butt for running into the street or being put in the corner for hitting his sister) I'm thinking the kids have told mommy and this asshole down played the abuse. I wonder how he finally got caught.

Depends on the kid & how they're brought up. Does mom listen when they're hurt, do they think telling will help? Are they scared all the time?
There are so many reasons a kid keeps quiet - in this case I would assume it was sheer terror of what the jerk might do next.

But I get what you're saying, so far my kids are vocal when they're wronged in ANY way...but that's also because I've given the gift of feeling safe to do so.

MILWAUKEE -
The family of two children at the center of a horrific child abuse investigation is speaking about what they knew before the allegations came to light.
Nicholas Fuchs, 26, faces abuse charges centering around allegedly placing a 4-year-old girl in a dryer for wetting her pants and pinching the genitals of a 5-year-old boy. The abuse occurred between January and October of 2011 in an Oak Creek apartment.

Fuchs appeared in court Wednesday morning and waived his preliminary hearing.

The girl told investigators that Fuchs put her in the dryer "a lot of times," and "It was very dark and warm inside the dryer and this made (her) scared," according to a criminal complaint.

The girl also told investigators Fuchs would strike the bottom of her foot with a spoon, which "super hurt," and he pulled her arm behind her back and pushed it up, causing a fracture, the complaint said.

Her brother told investigators he also got the foot "spankings" while his mother was at work. Fuchs picked him up by his neck and threw him on a bed, pinched his genitals and would put the boy's feet in hot water if he urinated in his pants, the complaint said.

The children's mother found out about the abuse in February after overhearing her daughter threaten to put her 5-year-old son in the dryer like Fuchs did to her, the complaint said.

The mother told investigators she ended her relationship with Fuchs in September because he became verbally abusive toward her, the complaint said. Fuchs was charged Thursday and cash bond was set at $20,000 on Friday. He will make an appearance in court Wednesday

WISN 12 spoke to the grandparents of the children. They said they knew the children's mother had a relationship with Fuchs, but did not learn of the allegations until just before the charges were released Friday.

They said they were told "about the kids going in the clothes dryer," the grandparents said. "He said 'It's your grandkids' and I was like 'Oh my God, no."
They said their granddaughter wound up with a broken arm during that time frame, but they were not sure whether it was tied to the abuse allegations.
While the girl told the grandparents she wasn't sure how she broke it, the criminal complaint states the girl told police that "Mean Nick" did it.

The complaint also alleges that Fuchs picked up the 5-year-old boy by the neck.

"As far as the grandson, we saw some bruising on his heck and that a couple times," the grandparents said. "...Some bruises on his thighs."

Neither of the grandparents believe the mother or father knew about the abuse at the time. The grandmother said it is now her mission to make sure the children know how much they are loved.

So, this happened between January and October of 2011. The mother found out about it in February. She broke up with the ass in September -- because he got verbally abusive to her. Is that about right? She didn't report the abuse of her children or stop it for several months?

I was thinking the same thing reading the article. She found out in February yet stayed with this piece of shit and let him watch her children even though she knew for 7 months! She left him because he treated her like shit but allowed him to stay all that time knowing he treated her kids like shit! I know kids get bruises all the time but I would think neck bruises would be suspscious. It's not easy for a kid to fall on his neck (missing his head/shoulder completely) or to walk into something with his neck. I think mom knew about the abuse and didn't care because she was happy with him. Only when she was no longer happy with how she was treated did she break it off and then report him. What a piece of shit excuse for a mother. He could have killed one of those kids in that time and apparently it didn't matter as long as he treated her good.

Well the article makes it pretty clear it happened between January and October of 2011. Unless the article is wrong. The post about the girl was not specific as to which February so I assumed it was February 2011 but you could be right as well and she just found out this past February which is why he was arrested recently.

Nicholas James Fuchs, 26, admitted abusing the children, then 4 and 5 years old, when he lived at his girlfriend's Oak Creek apartment last year.

Under the terms of a plea agreement, Fuchs pleaded guilty to three counts of child abuse and a fourth of recklessly endangering safety. In return the state dismissed charges of false imprisonment and strangulation and suffocation, according to online court records.
