A man charged with possessing child pornography allegedly told police he started collecting the images of children as young as six after watching an episode of America's Most Wanted.
Nathan J. Zielske, 48, was allegedly caught with 2,000 images and 113 videos showing young children being raped and abused.
Police said Zielske even replaced an assailant’s face with his own picture and one victim’s face with that of another child from a school portrait using photo editing software.
The man told police he became interested in child pornography after watching America’s Most Wanted host John Walsh talk about a missing girl, according to the charges reports SeattlePI.com.
'Mr Zielske state that ‘irony of irony,’ how this all started was when John Walsh was searching for and had pictures of this ‘attractive teen’ … that he was looking for a perpetrator,' the detective said in court documents.
'She looked interesting,I looked at that name … and that’s how it all got started.' Zielske allegedly told police.
Seattle Police began investigating Zielske in March 2011 after he posted several suspicious photos on Facebook.
Investigators came to believe Zielske posted the photos from his Mount Baker neighborhood home.
Detectives with the Internet Crimes Against Children unit searched his home on December 6.
