Ada County sheriff: Couple arrested after doctors say baby's bruises, broken ribs are suspicious
An Ada County infant who local health officials determined has suspicious bruises on his face, arms and abdomen -- and two broken ribs -- has been taken into the care of the state, and his parents have been arrested on felony child abuse charges.

Gina M. Padilla, 26, and Jeffrey L. Ibarra, 27, who live in unincorporated Ada County, were arrested on warrants Thursday and booked into the Ada County Jail.

They were both arraigned Friday. Padilla remains in custody on a $25,000 bond, and Ibarra is being held on $75,000 bond.

The investigation into possible abuse of the child began after the couple took the child to a Boise doctor on Tuesday. The physician did not believe the child's injuries were consistent with the information provided by his parents, so he notified the Ada County Sheriff's Office.

The 4-month-old male was transferred to St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center, where doctors confirmed the child's visible injuries and diagnosed the two broken ribs. The St. Luke's physicians indicated that one fracture appeared to have occurred more than a week ago, and the other fracture was more recent.

The sheriff's office says investigators determined that the child had not been in the care of anyone but his parents.

I can't believe how many "people" prey on newborn infants. I'm getting more than a little bit tired of reading these lines: "X month old infant, broken legs, broken ribs, bruising, healing prior injuries . . . "

I think that these people should have blood testing done and if there is any common denominator (genetic) that exists, we find a way to target them with a plague and wipe them off the face of the earth. We need a super-villain.

Yay know, it's not hard to walk away from a screaming baby, close the door, step outside if you can't listen. Take a breath, count to 20, have a cup of tea and then and try again to settle the baby. Really, it's so much easier than beating the crap out of baby and still listen to the agonising screaming!!
