A GIRL of 15 was doused with white spirit and set on fire by a jealous love rival.

Lucy Goldsmith was tricked into meeting the young woman, who believed she had kissed the attacker’s boyfriend.

She then flicked a lighter and engulfed Lucy in flames, saying: “You won’t look pretty any more.”

The woman hid the white spirit in a Coke bottle.

Police say the suspect was with a baby in a buggy during the attack in Eltham, South East London.

Mum-of-one Carly Costin, 31, was first to the scene. She said: “What I saw will stay with me forever.

“I was in the garden with my partner and son when we heard a girl’s screams.

“It wasn’t a normal scream, it was a chilling, horrible sound, like something from a horror movie.”

She and partner Jamie Kelsey ran to Lucy’s aid as she writhed in flames outside St Saviour’s Church on Sunday afternoon. Carly said: “It was horrific. Flames were leaping out from her hair.

“The skin on the left of her face was peeling off, her hair had completely gone. It was totally gruesome. She looked like she had been burnt under a grill.” Her partner grabbed a towel from their washing line and beat out the flames.

Carly went on: “Jamie managed to put out the fire. Her T-shirt and bra had melted and her skin was bubbling.

“It was utterly horrendous, the worst sight of my life.”

One of Lucy’s friends from Eltham Green School said the victim had been lured to the ambush by another girl. The pal said: “Lucy was set up. It’s disgusting.”

Police claim the attacker clearly intended to disfigure Lucy for life. A detective said: “She poured the spirit over her face, set her alight and said, ‘You won’t look pretty any more.’

I'm in full agreement with you on this one. Gawd.. I love my man to pieces, and would die for him, but I'd never hurt another person if I thought some other girl 'kissed/f***ed/whatevered' with him. I'd confront him, and if he owned up, I'd be kickin' him to the curb for breaking my trust. If he says no, it didn't happen, I'd trust him until I was proven otherwise.

THat's too far. I dunno. I actually drove to Wisconsin from NC once, had the "other guy" lured out behind a grocery store and car door whipped him, and actually curb stomped him, shattering his jaw, I found out. I heard the distinct sound, the way a thick branch snaps, and it stays with me. ANd that shit haunted me. That shit...haunted me. I was consumed by what I thought was a disrespect of my life, when my 7 year old now was a baby....I looked at it as him fucking with her future, and absolutely maimed him. I say this, because jealousy and pain make people do terrible things....

Now, the setting the bitch on fire thing is awful, and way too far, but had this story read "girl beats the utter stuffing out of yadda yadda ya" I wouldn't have blinked. The fire thing is awful, though.....damn.

when I was a teenager, I worked as a volunteer at a local hospital. I worked in the physical therapy dept. They brought in this lil' 5yr old girl one day that was burned pretty badly. Her next door neighbor's kid had poured gasoline on her, and set fire to her. I remember the cries from this poor baby...as we worked to cleanse her burns and apply dressing to aid in healing. I will *never* forget it.

As much as burning a person intentionally is a heinous thing to do, and I've seen firsthand what can happen...

I still think someone ought to give that girl (the jealous one) a dose of her own medicine.

I read 'Cruel Sacrifice' a couple of years ago and the case has haunted me since. I never heard about it when it was going on, not because I am Canadian, but because the Joey Buttafuoco and Amy Fisher thing; that shit was all over the news. I guess it was more important than a little girl being kidnapped, tortured, sexualy assaulted, and burned alive.

That happened about 15 minutes from where I grew up...my grandma lives in her deceased grandparents' old home....that story creeps me out, and i think one of the girls involved was up for parole a year ago. A lot of local teens go to the place it happened because it's supposedly "haunted." They call it witches castle I think....ugh i dunno...this is why my boyfriend's ex creeps me out....stories like this and her hatred of me.

Hopefully that girl trips into a bonfire due to bad karma....

Yup, witch's castle is the place they took her at first but most of the night, she was in the trunk and they would pull over and beat her. Two of the girls, I believe, are out. One definitely is because I saw it on the news. Toni Lawrence got 20 years, was credited for her time in jail awaiting trial, and only served half due to good behaviour (every day you serve is counted as two). She served nine years. Apparently, she has a child now. She has been out a while.

Well after reading that wikipedia article, it blows my mind that they have a play named after the Jr.high several of my friends went to....or that anything like could happen here just because it's so quiet usually. I just can't imagine being able to carry that out on anything....I don't know I think hatred just gives whoever you hate power over you and isn't worth screwing your life up no matter how many shitty things they may have done to you or you think they have....oh well her last name was loveless.....i wish all the psychos could have some sort of sign over there head so those who aren't good run away....or taser them.

I read about the Shanda Sharer case this morning. I don't know why. These cases bother me. It's fucking cruel. What possesses people to do this over such bullshit? If you set someone who molested you or raped you on fire, I would get it. Over a lover? No way.
