The sheriff’s office reports that Billy Joe Ewing was stabbed in the shoulder and shot once in the “throat area” at his home on 138A Laramie Road. Ewing told deputies that his assailant was his wife’s ex-husband, Clayton Monsees.
Amanda Ewing, according to the report, told deputies that she was in the bedroom with her 3 children during the attack. She says she heard her husband’s truck pull into driveway, the door slam, and then the gunshot. She says she looked outside and saw her husband and Monsees fighting, with a knife stuck in her husband’s shoulder. The sheriff’s office says that Amanda Ewing did not call 911 about the attack.

Prosecutors say Ewing and her ex-husband Clayton Monsees, also charged with capital murder, worked together to kill Ewing's husband Billy Joe in March. Deputies say Ewing told them she needed to get her husband oh of the picture so she and Monsees could have a relationship.
"As a general rule in any case, capital murder requires premeditation, deliberation and we feel like the facts are sufficient in this case to file capital murder," Prosecuting Attorney Cody Hiland said.
Deputies say Ewing and Monsees murdered Billy Joe Ewing at the end of a gravel road in Green Toad. At this time, a trial date has yet to be set.
