A 52-year-old Darien man accused of attacking his elderly mother with a meat carving fork before calling 911 to report her injuries is being held in DuPage County Jail on $750,000 bail, authorities said Thursday.
Police say Marcos B. Osoteo “punched and stabbed” his 81-year-old mother “in the face and throat multiple times” with the meat carving fork, “causing multiple injuries” late in the afternoon March 29, Darien police said in a news release.
Osoteo surrendered to officers a short while later in the front yard of his home, in the 8500 block of Ailsworth Drive, police said.
As officers entered the home to assist the elderly woman, an 18-year-old man with autism who was inside charged at them with a pair of scissors, according to the statement. Police say they used a Taser on the man to “stop him.”
All three family members were transported to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove for medical treatment, police said. The elderly woman was treated for her wounds and released. The 18-year-old man was released after he was checked for medical complications from the use of the Taser on him, police say. He was not charged.
After Osoteo was fingerprinted at the Darien police department, he was taken to the hospital for a “medical complaint,” police said. He was released on April 2 and booked into DuPage County Jail.
Osoteo faces four felony charges for aggravated domestic battery, great bodily harm, aggravated battery of person over 60 years old and use of a deadly weapon.
