FHP: Robin Pfeiff had cocaine, alcohol in system during I-95 wreck that severely injured kids

PORT ST. LUCIE — A Palm Coast woman accused of being under the influence of cocaine and alcohol during a crash that sent her and her three young children to area hospitals, was arrested Monday on felony charges, according to records released Tuesday.

Robin Pfeiff, 33, wrecked March 8 on Interstate 95 about two miles north of St. Lucie West Boulevard. She faces charges including DUI impairment/serious bodily injury and three counts of child neglect-great harm following a Florida Highway Patrol investigation.

Pfeiff's 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee overturned several times, ejecting Pfeiff's 5-year-old boy. Her 4-year-old boy and 9-month-old girl also were in the vehicle. A Mercedes with two adults also was involved in the crash.

The elder two children were flown to St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach. The 5-year-old sustained severe injuries, while the 4-year-old was critically injured, records show. Pfeiff and the 9-month-old were taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce.

Blood from Pfeiff taken almost four hours after the 8:30 p.m. crash tested positive for cocaine and had an alcohol content of 0.094, which is greater than the 0.08 legal limit.
Five days after the crash, an FHP trooper went to St. Mary's and learned the 5-year-old boy had a fractured femur and clavicle, bruised lungs, cerebral contusion and other injuries.
Pfeiff was there and the trooper smelled alcohol coming from her and reported her eyes were bloodshot and watery and her speech very slurred. In looking at her eyes, the trooper suspected there was some sort of controlled substance in her system.
A nurse told the trooper the 5-year-old boy told her his mother's favorite drink was wine.

At Lawnwood in the hours after the crash, Pfeiff told FHP officials she was driving her friend's Jeep and had three glasses of wine before she left home. She said she was going to see her husband at a federal penitentiary.

She said she always secures her kids, but a trooper noted just one child seat in the vehicle.[...]

This mom is fucking stellar, even coked off her ass she still managed to restrain her kid(s) properly. I'm sure those 3 glasses of wine helped her cognizance and pre penitentiary family time with the hubby who I am sure was thrilled to hear what a wonderful job the mother to his children was doing.
Who knows maybe they will be allowed conjugal visits (while their kids are raised by competent individuals) next time since they are both gonna be spending time in Florida correctional facilities. Everyone wins!
