Ellis County Justice of the Peace Bill Woody said the Dallas County medical examiner's office sent him a report Tuesday in which they had determined they were the boy's remains "based on the circumstances" surrounding the case. They also concluded the boy's death was a homicide, he said. . . .

The remains were discovered in a creek bed where authorities say the child's father, Aaron Ramsey, told Dallas police he put the body last year. The bones also were inside a sleeping bag matching the father's description.

The remains were found were found "in three foot water under a log," Woody said. . . .

Woody said the medical examiner's office told him that they still planned to run DNA testing on the bones. They also planned to do other forensic testing to see if they could determine how the boy died. . . .

We don't know what happened. We don't know exactly what happened,' Ms Ramsey said, reassuring herself that the truth could not be as heinous as it seemed.

Can you imagine as a mother finding out that a child you raised could do something so awful? To their own child? I can't. The horror of this all. The boy, crying and begging to be let out, to be given some food. How could he stand it? How could she?

Through DNA testing, the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s office has officially identified remains found last month in Ellis County as those of those of 10-year-old Johnathan Ramsey, who authorities say was starved to death. Family members are now making arraignments to have Johnathan’s remains returned to New Mexico, where his mother lives.

“Knowing that he’s been identified there’s closure there,” said Starla Swanson, the boy’s maternal step-grandmother. . . .

Swanson said the boy’s mother, Judy Williams, is doing as well as can be expected under the circumstances. Mother’s Day was particularly difficult.

“It was a hard day for her, for all of us,” Swanson said in an email. “Normally we’d talk with her on Mother’s Day and wish her a happy one, but what do you say or do under these circumstances?”

Arent the mothers parents the ones that lived across the street? Didnt she call and ask them to check on the boy?

I believe it was the step mother's parents that lived across the street from the house that Johnathan lived in. They didn't seem all that curious about where the boy was.

I think if I was Mrs. Ramsey (the grandma) I'd need denial to stay sane & get up everyday & go through the motions.

I love my children and do my best by them, if something horrible happened like this because of them....I'd implode. I can't see how a mother could go on. The guilt, the shame....I know it's wrong to project it onto yourself & make it about you & not the dead child - but as a mother I'm not sure I'd know how.

The trial for a father accused of starving his son to death and dumping the boy’s remains in Ennis is scheduled to begin in a Dallas County courtroom this morning.
Update, 12:15 p.m. Just before the lunch break, defense attorneys were cross examining Edward Ramsey, grandfather of Johnathan Ramsey and father of the defendant, Aaron Ramsey.

The grandfather described Johnathan as “a regular little boy,” who loved airplanes and cars and playing catch. . . .

For more than a year, he had asked to see his grandson, he testified. Instead, he spoke to Johnathan on the phone and could sense that his stepmother was “over his shoulder making sure he said the right things.” He exchanged texts with Johnathan but “sensed” the stepmother had a hand in those words, too, he said. The couple claimed Johnathan was busy with church or extended family and didn’t have time to see his grandfather. . . .

The man told the grandfather he had heard that Johnathan was tested and was not in fact Aaron’s biological son, Edward Ramsey testified. “And he said Johnathan moved to New Mexico” with his biological mother and “he might have died.”

The grandfather said he felt “sad, very upset and lost,” after hearing that. He called police and an investigation began days later, he said. According to prosecutors, Johnathan Ramsey had been dead for more than six months, his body lying in a creek bed in Ennis, and found by police after Aaron Ramsey pointed the location out to officers, prosecutors said.

Ramsey’s father, Edward Ramsey, testified Tuesday that his grandson had lived in Ennis most of his life and that he saw his grandson regularly. Aaron Ramsey regularly sent cellphone pictures of the happy boy and arranged weekly phone calls with Johnathan’s mother and two siblings in New Mexico.

Aaron and Elizabeth Ramsey married in 2010, according to testimony. They and Johnathan moved to Dallas in January 2011.

After the move, Williams testified, “everything changed” and communication became less frequent. She tried to arrange visits from New Mexico but was turned away in emails from the Ramseys, she testified.

Through Williams, Johnathan’s maternal grandmother tried to get an address to send presents to the boy for his 11th birthday and Christmas. In emailed responses, the Ramseys told Williams to stop emailing and said they’d send post offfice box information for the gifts later.

“And don’t contact Aaron’s family,” one email from Elizabeth Ramsey’s account said, according to evidence presented by lead prosecutor Eren Price. “They don’t know where we moved to. Nor will they.”

Meanwhile, in Ennis, grandfather Edward Ramsey grew impatient with excuses the couple offered for why he couldn’t see his grandson. He hadn’t seen the boy since January 2011.

“Our contact was limited or awkward,” he testified about his phone calls with Johnathan. It seemed “Elizabeth was over his shoulder … like his words were being controlled.”

In March 2012, Edward Ramsey drove to Plano to begin searching for the boy, first stopping to see his son’s father-in-law at the shoe repair shop he owns. He asked if the man knew where Johnathan had been for the last year.

“He said Johnathan had moved to New Mexico and that he might have died,” Edward Ramsey testified. “He showed no emotion.”

He called Dallas police in mid-March, and they conducted a welfare check at the Ramseys’ home on Clearwater Drive. Officers questioned Elizabeth and Aaron Ramsey separately but never entered the home. Their stories didn’t match, officers testified.

At one point during the visit, Elizabeth Ramsey told officers she was 37 weeks pregnant and was having contractions. After she was taken by Dallas Fire-Rescue to the hospital, officials learned she was not pregnant.

Police opened a child abuse investigation and searched the couple’s cluttered, filthy home for evidence. They found more than a dozen cats and four dogs living there, healthy and well-fed, though living in their own waste.

Beasts and liars. Johnathon had family that loved him. How hard would it have been to let him live with someone who wanted him?

I've been drinking my own urine for the past few days. I can't really explain why.
Yet know, my master, God omnipotent,
Is mustering in his clouds on our behalf
Armies of pestilence; and they shall strike
Your children yet unborn and unbegot,
That lift your vassal hands against my head
And threat the glory of my precious crown.

As I suspected earlier, the bitch is a liar. I'd be willing to bet my last paycheck that the "triplets" that they claim were miscarried never existed, either. So what's your excuse now for starving Johnathan to death, dickcheese?
Valasca: Damn. That's the last time I google something YOU suggest. stabstabstab.

After deliberating less than an hour, a Dallas County jury returned a guilty verdict this afternoon against a man accused of starving his son to death.

Aaron Ramsey faces life in prison for injury to a child.

The case is now going into the punishment phase of the trial.
    [...]

His wife, Elizabeth, told police that Ramsey began giving “military rations” of bread and water to Johnathan Ramsey after the child tried to stab him, according to a taped interview the jury watched this morning.

Dallas, TX – Aaron Ramsey, the 35-year-old man who starved his 10-year-old son to death,*has been found guilty by a Dallas County jury and was sentenced to life in prison.
If you don’t remember the death of Jonathan Ramsey, let me refresh your memory and quite possibly ruin your morning.
Back in 2011, police began looking into the disappearance of Jonathan Ramsey after the child’s grandfather contacted them, concerned that the boy had not been seen in almost a year.
Police questioned the boy’s father, Aaron Ramsey, and his 31-year-old stepmother, Elizabeth Ramsey. Eventually they would admit that the boy was dead and that Aaron had disposed of his body in an unknown location.
According to Elizabeth, she and Aaron began starving the Jonathan in March 2011 after the boy allegedly punched her in the stomach while she was pregnant with triplets, supposedly causing her to lose the babies.
That’s when Aaron locked Johnathan in a*bedroom*and only fed him bread, water, and occasionally milk. Jonathan went from 90-pounds to 60-pounds and, according to the affidavit, he was so hungry that he ate his own feces.…
