2yo Devon Davis Is Missing, Mom Fails Part Of Her Polygraph Test *found deceased*

Devon Davis, 2½, was last seen on March 27 2012
CLEVELAND — The mother of a Liberty County toddler who has been missing since Tuesday has failed parts of a polygraph test, a law enforcement source close to the investigation said Friday.

April Davis, 27, who pleaded with the public to help find her son, took the polygraph test Thursday, said the source who did not want to be identified.

After FBI agents repeatedly questioned Davis about 2½-year-old Devon, who disappeared while she was home alone with her children, she agreed to take a polygraph exam to verify her account.

Liberty County Sheriff's spokesman Rex Evans refused to discuss the test results, just as he has also declined to reveal what items have been collected as possible evidence.

A dozen specimens were taken from the ground outside the upstairs bedroom window where the children took their nap as well as other items from inside the two-story frame house east of Cleveland.

Lie detector tests are used primarily as an investigative tool, and the results are almost never allowed in criminal courts, regardless of whether a suspect passes or fails. Investigators use the test as a way to ask more questions, to glean more information.

The tests are used heavily to screen applicants for law enforcement jobs, military recruitment and sensitive federal careers.

Standing before a battery of cameras and news reporters for the first time Friday, Davis removed the dark glasses shading her tear-filled eyes as she talked about Devon.

"I know somebody out there must have seen something," Davis said Friday, as more than a hundred searchers ended their fourth day of combing the rugged Liberty County bottomland for her red-haired boy.

    'He's a fighter'

She begged people to come forward and report anything that could lead them to Devon, whom she last saw Tuesday when she put him and his 1-year-old sister down for a nap.

After dozing off herself, she awoke some 20 minutes later to find him gone and the front door, which she'd bolted shut, left wide open.

Exasperated at not having any inkling as to his whereabouts, she said, "It's like he's been abducted by fricking aliens!"

Davis begged the searchers, who include Equu*Search volunteers and others, to not give up finding her son alive. "I should have lost Devon at birth when he was born premature. But he's a fighter," she said.

    Family from Virginia

She described him as "the sweetest child," happy and friendly, a regular boy who loves playing with swords.

A week before Devon went missing, the Davis family moved here from Virginia. They are temporarily living in the home of an old U.S. Army buddy who helped Devon's father, Mike, obtain a job as a machinist.

Searchers have been looking for the boy in Liberty County's dense woods and murky bayous where alligators, wild hogs and poisonous snakes lurk. Officials shifted their search Thursday from rescuing the toddler to finding his body after officials said the chances of finding him appear slim.

    Drone to be used

Evans said new high-tech equipment will be joining the search Saturday in addition to the helicopter equipped with infrared detectors, dogs, horses and four-wheelers.

"We're bringing in a drone," Evans said. "We think it can help by staying in the air longer and having video with real high resolution and other things I don't even know about."

In addition, authorities said they have questioned dozens of sex offenders living in the same ZIP code [...]

Rule of thumb is that the mother of a missing child will NEVER say s/he's been abducted. They will say the child is "lost".
This woman is lying, she KNOWS where her boy is.

    His body was found Saturday.
Autopsy results show 2-year-old Devin Davis was the victim of an accidental drowning. He was found in a Liberty County pond after disappearing last week.

Devin's funeral will be held Friday.

Searchers looked for Davis all last week after he disappeared while his mother napped at a friend's home.

It took a drone aircraft operated by Texas EquuSearch to locate the boy's body in a pond near the house the boy and his family had been staying at after recently moving to Texas.

The search ended with that discovery on Saturday after four days of searching for the child.

His mother told investigators she took a nap last Tuesday afternoon, and when she awoke Devin was gone.

The founder of Texas EquuSearch says he believes the 2-year-old just wandered off.

"This is why they call children they're in their 'terrible two's,'" said Tim Miller. "We're going to do everything we can to make sure he has the best funeral after this."

Sad ending. This is another drowning. 4yo deaths and drownings are on the rise.

This really showcases why polygraphs are not used in court. Mom failed. We judged. All for naught.

The failed test in the title is why I read this...ugh, how sad is this - it could happen to anyone.

When my son was 1.5 or so he got to opening the doors & running outside. I didn't even realize he could do it & my husband thought I was being paranoid. Well, one night after it was getting dark, my son went and did it again - only this time I didn't stop him. I purposely let him go knowing my husband was outside.
Well, the little twerp had no idea daddy was working outside & in his little footie pajamas ran right past him & to the swingset! Lo and behold my shocked husband came in carrying a squirming, angry little boy.

Next day I came home to safety chains on all the outside doors.

But like I said, when this first happened, I didn't know it was even possible. And he was under 2! These kids grow up so fast & learn new skills so fast - you have to be ready for it, you just never know what could happen. I feel so bad for their family.

Thank God my son like me is too chickenshit to ever run off from his mama like this! He may be unlocking doors but it's more for curiosity's sake than an escape attempt. Hell I'm 22 and I still get pissed if my mom leaves me high and dry in the cereal aisle no where to be found and not answering her cell.

The parents of Devon Davis, whose body was found in a Liberty County lake in March, have taken back their daughter after CPS placed her with family friends.

Through a text message, April Davis confirmed that she and her husband had their 18-month-old daughter Abby.

April wrote in a text, "We got Abby and left."

Another text read, "There was no court order. We were able 2 get her all this time. CPS was just bullying us."

Capt. Rex Evans of the Liberty County Sheriff's Office said he convinced the Davis family to stop in Woodville, Tyler County, in east Texas. He said he checked Abby and found no reason he could hold them.

"I want somebody to explain to me why I can't have my daughter back. It's hard enough dealing with the fact that my 2.5 year old son is gone. And now I can't have my daughter and no one can explain why," April Davis said at the time.

Child Protective Services placed Abby with family friends after the disappearance of her brother Devon. April Davis expected Abby would be returned after Devon's death was ruled an accident and April's name was cleared.

"We've done nothing wrong. She's been cleared of everything. It's just making it...a lot harder. A lot harder. We can't even deal with the passing of Devon without having to fight for Abby. There's just no reason for it,"
    Mike Davis said last month.

Evans said CPS, the Davis family, and a family friend had a civil agreement, but not a court order, for custody of Abby. CPS had placed the family in a "parental safety plan." The couple voluntarily placed Abby in a friend's home.

"They have one child that they'll never get back and another child that was taken out of the home and were fighting to get back," attorney Chris Branson said. "It's voluntary. There is no court order requiring them to do so. There was no restriction on their parental rights. It was one more thing, one more thing and one more thing. Lately, they were telling them it would likely be about 6 months before you get your child back. They couldn't explain to them exactly why. They chose last night to end that voluntary placement."

Are you serious? Its like they were intentionally trying to keep the mom from her daughter simply becoz. No real reason why, it's just becoz.

I remember those days well. My son, well before he was 2, used to open my door and take off to explore...I caught him every time except once he got all the way into the yard without me noticing. I have a pool and he tried to climb up the steps all the time when we were outside, when we weren't outside the steps were up, but I wasn't taking any chances. Chain lock 2.00, safer pool ladder 300.00, my son priceless.
I love my mom because she loves me and she is a great mom she loves me so much she bought me a psp that stands for playstation portable.

From my son, Mother's Day 2012.
