Ark. Court Rules Teachers Can Have Sexual Relationship With Students

I disagree with this ruling, because of the position of authority the teacher is in
18 year olds do have rights, but teachers like doctors and head minders should be held to a certain standard

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — The Arkansas Supreme Court on Thursday struck down the state’s law banning sexual contact between teachers and students, finding that people 18 or older have a constitutional right to engage in a consensual sexual relationship.

The court sided with 38-year-old David Paschal, an Elkins High School history and psychology teacher who admitted having a five-month consensual sexual relationship with an 18-year-old student.

This doesn't surprise me in the least. Any state the is OK with close relatives marrying would view teacher and student relationships as being acceptable, especially if they're related.

You know what, I could care less about the legal status of teacher/student relationships, so long as public outcry ensures they become former-teacher/student relationships...
