LLANO, Texas (KXAN) - A Llano County jury sentenced Kingsland man with a long criminal history to 75 years in prison for attempting to sexually assault a 62-year-old woman.
The woman managed to thwart the attack by biting the attacker.
According to the Llano County District Attorney's Office, Patrick Womble, 50, broke into a woman's home through a door that inadvertently was left unlocked and tried to rape her after meeting her at a Christmas party.
It happened in the Lakewood Forest One neighborhood in Kingsland in 2009.

Womble first offered to walk the woman home and then showed up at her house and tried to barge in and kiss her.
After his first failed attempt, Womble broke into her home and held her down in bed. She bit him in the arm so hard that he let go.
Womble was charged with burglary with intent to commit sexual assault. His criminal history contributed to the hefty 75-year sentence. Assistant District Attorney Stacy Street handled the case.
During the sentencing phase another woman took the stand and told jurors Womble had exposed himself to her in a neighborhood.
He served time in a California prison in the 1980's for a burglary and had several run-ins with the law in the 1990's including a theft by check and an evading police case.
"This case ... is unique because it involved a burglary with an attempted rape," said District Attorney Sam Oatman. "The victim was brave and fought back, saving herself from additional trauma.
"In spite of that, the jury handed down a stiff sentence to reflect an attitude that hopefully sends that message. This may prevent another would-be sex offender from committing or trying to commit an act of this kind.”
