Manchester: Woman decapitated by lorry. Photo's put on Twitter.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...y-Twitter.html

A woman was decapitated by a 40-ton truck in a hit-and-run tragedy today - as witnesses took sick photos of her on their mobile phones.

The victim is believed to have fallen into the path of the articulated lorry as it travelled through the rush hour. The HGV driver then drove off without stopping.

Police were called to the scene at 10am on Upper Brook Street in Longsight, Manchester, to find the woman’s body parts strewn across the road.

But as the tragedy unfolded passers-by whipped out their phones and began taking pictures of the grisly scene before posting them on social networking site Twitter.

Eye witnesses claimed builders working on a nearby site had also filmed the death taking place. One picture on Twitter showing the woman’s severed leg was later deleted.

The trucker has now been arrested on suspicion of murder after his vehicle was pulled over by police at a side street near a council tip three miles from the death scene.

Officers are now investigating whether the victim jumped to her death from an office block during the morning rush hour and fell into the path of the truck.

Police also looking at whether the woman walked into the path of the vehicle and are even thought to be looking into claims the body may have fallen out of the lorry.
    [...]

One Twitter user cycling to work said: 'Just driven past the body of someone who had committed suicide by jumping off a building in Manchester. People were filming it - sick.'

He added: 'It was absolutely revolting. Like nothing I have ever seen. There were some builders nearby who were filming it on their phones.'
    [...]

Supt Wasim Chaudhry from Greater Manchester Police said: 'At 10am this morning police received a report of a body in the road.

'Officers attended and we can confirm we found the body of a deceased female.

'It’s a very fast moving investigation. The female has suffered some sort of road traffic injuries.

'We are in the very early stages and we are keeping an open mind as to what has happened here today.

'At this stage a 47-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody for questioning.
    [...]

'We are making every effort to try and identify the person who has lost her life in what are clearly tragic circumstances. We are also trying to establish her age.'

There are whole websites devoted to real life gore videos. I do not want to imagine the kind of folks that frequent those sites.

This makes me feel a bit smug about ex-pat friends who're proud to have left America to relocate in the UK...

I would guess at least 35% of DD members visit those sites. I can't and won't. I can handle silicon injected dicks, old man orgies, and octopus porn, I can't handle dead babies and dismembered bodies.

I think you're right. There's a healthy split between moms who want to help and demented people who enjoy gore, horror films and nasty true crime stories.

Crazy people are everywhere. At least here my ex-bf's probably won't hunt me down to throw acid in my face for rejecting them.

"Helping" includes hanging out on a true crime horror site? Learn something new every day. Rather than let people know I am a fan of true crime, I'll tell them I'm helping. That's the ticket!

Don't get me wrong. I'm a huge true crime fan, but I can't look at those pics. Some things just can't be unseen.

Can't say I haven't been to those sites. There is an element of morbid fascination...but honestly, a few minutes of poking around and I start getting queasy. So I can't judge others too harshly for it.
Maybe some people don't get that stomach dropping jolt of "these were real people, like me", and want to be a part of a gruesome side-show.

The lack of respect for the dead by so many is the big "ugh" factor. I seriously hope at least one of those people called 911 before posting the nasties to twitter. Fuuuck.

    Semantics, Baby. Mwah!

I said they want to help, not that they were actually doing anything. This place is crack! CRACK I tell you!

When I was severely depressed, I spent a lot of time on gore sites. I honestly couldn't tell you why, but somehow seeing other people dead kind of helped me put things in perspective. It was like, I kind of had these romantic, idealized notions of suicide/death, and seeing real dead people reminded me that, no, dying totally blows and is often disgusting.

And, I mean, I couldn't judge anyone for visiting those kinds of sites, but contributing to them is all kinds of fucked up. I've seen some nasty accidents, and it never even crossed my mind to take pictures. How can it?

There's a quote by Tom Jokinen that applies here. “You should respect death and respect the dead, not out of fear, but because it's the proper human thing to do.”

I used to love going to those sites. Usually I looked at the ones of people dying because of doing something, like the stupid chick who decided to drive 120 mph, too bad she was going so fast she failed to notice there was a toll both in her way...split her head right in half. I can't handle dead babies though so I would never click on a link that mentioned babies in the title, or kids.
I love my mom because she loves me and she is a great mom she loves me so much she bought me a psp that stands for playstation portable.

A man has been arrested after a handbag and shoes were apparently taken from a woman left decapitated in a horrifying traffic accident.

CCTV footage released in the aftermath of the accident shows an Asian man walking away from the scene with what appeared to be the dead woman's belongings.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police has confirmed a 46-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of theft and is currently being held in custody.

Sarwari Ashraf, 62, was killed instantly on Thursday when she was struck by a lorry while crossing Upper Brook Street in Manchester.

Gruesome images of her dismembered body, taken by members of the public, later appeared on the internet, including one photo on Twitter of a severed leg - provoking outrage.

The impact propelled Mrs Ashraf's belongings up to 100 yards from the rest of her body.

Police immediately set about tracking down the man captured on CCTV, because they needed her possessions to help identify her.
    [...]

A 40-year-old lorry driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and bailed pending further inquiries until May.

I wonder if he took the stuff to prevent the cops identifying the victim?

Oh wow. I'm glad there was an update today, because after reading the original article about possible suicide, jumping off a building, murder, her possibly being in the truck and falling out, I was all kinds of messed up and confused with a really WTF look on my face. Ugh. If I had seen something so gruesome, I would have thrown up and curled up in a ball sobbing my head off. So many humans have lost there "humanity" it seems. I can be a callous bitch, and I have been desensitized by a lot I read and have seen, but it's good to know that I still have base reactions to certain things so I don't worry too much about myself.

That girl was nicki Casarus (spelling?). That's actually how I ended up at a gore site too. I feel the same as most of you about the dead babies and all. Honestly the gore doesn't bother me. What I can't handle is people eating gross things. Blood is not an issue for. I think I really should have been a coroners investigator. Dismembered bodies, Blood and all that just doesn't bother me.

I am guilty of looking. But unfortunately, you cannot unsee some of those things.

But on a lighter note, I know you all will like this, I had a dream last night that I gave birth to 5 kittens while standing up, followed by placenta thwapping against the floor. I really believe it was from this site with all the kittens and death on here. What is it with you people and kittens????
