Atlanta investigators arrested an 18-year-old for the deadly shooting of a toddler in southwest Atlanta.
Larenzo Montgomery was charged with involuntary manslaughter and reckless conduct.
Police say Montgomery was handling his gun when he unintentionally fired a shot.
3-year-old Takira Garlington was shot in the torso area.
The shooting happened at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at a townhouse in the 3200 block of Cushman Circle.
Kevin Muckle, a neighbor, said he heard a boom and then saw the child's mother run outside yelling, "Call 911" and "It was an accident."
Muckle and other neighbors said they've seen the girl at the home. Police said she didn't live there, but was visiting.
Larenzo's father Malcolm Montgomery spoke to CBS Atlanta on Thursday morning.
He says Larenzo was Takira Garlington's uncle. He said Larenzo loved the little girl and never would have done anything to hurt her.
He does not know who's gun it was or why Larenzo had it.

No bond for teen accused of fatally shooting toddler; teen's dad said it was accident
http://www.ajc.com/news/atlanta/no-b...=brkng_nws_bnrAtlanta police have made an arrest in the Wednesday shooting of a 3-year-old girl at her grandmother's home.
And the father of the teen accused of killing Takira Garlington said the shooting was a mistake.
Larenzo D. Montgomery, 18, was charged with involuntary manslaughter and reckless conduct for the death of Takira Garlington, authorities said.
A Fulton County judge denied bond to Montgomery, pending a preliminary hearing in Superior Court on April 12.
Officers were called to the home in the 3200 block of Cushman Circle around 3:42 p.m. after a report of shots fired, police said. The little girl, who was shot in the stomach, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
"Due to the nature of the allegations, you do not qualify for bond," Fulton County Magistrate Judge Jessy Lall told Montgomery during his first court appearance Thursday morning at the Fulton County jail.
Montgomery said nothing, and furrowed his brow as he heard the verdict.
