Bridgeton, NJ — In response to presumed claims of police brutality by local news media, the Chief of Police in Bridgeton New Jersey has declared as justified the use of pepper-spray to subdue a woman at a 7-Eleven. Police took the opportunity to provide additional details of the tense situation that existed at the time of the incident. Bridgeton Police Chief Mark Ott said that a panic alarm was activated a 7-Eleven on West Broad Street at 3:05 a.m. An armed response team officer was immediately dispatched to the scene. The responding officer reported that – as he pulled into the parking lot – he saw Brittany C. Glanville, 25, ‘wing’ an item at the head of the clerk on duty. The police report lauded the intended victim by saying “with quick reflexes the clerk was able to snatch the item out of the air and avoid being hit.” As the officer began to enter the store, he described Glanville attempting to climb over the counter to reach the clerk. She was subdued and arrested. The officer reported putting Glanville in the back of his patrol car where she repeatedly tried kicking out the windows. It was then that the officer reportedly “pepper-sprayed her into submission.” Shockingly, according to the police report, Glanville appeared to be intoxicated and smelling of alcohol. A subsequent investigation into the cause of the incident determined that the disruption began because Glanville had become angered that 7-Eleven did not have any fully-heated sausages in store’s hot dog cooker. Glanville was charged with disorderly conduct and reportedly released to a hospital for evaluation. Make all the jokes you want, but 3AM and no hot sausages?!? …we’ve all been there.
