Eric Abare & Kelly Broderick Really Broke The Baby

Kelly Broderick, 28, and Eric Abare, 25

    BRIDGEVILLE, Pa. --
    [....]
According to police, the boy's parents, Kelly Broderick, 28, and Eric Abare, 25, waited to call 911 after the child had been injured.
Landlord Fran Fiorentini said Broderick called her, claiming that her son had fallen and needed help.
"When she called and said, 'What do I do?' I said, 'Call an ambulance,'" said Fiorentini.
According to police, neither Broderick nor Abare called 911.
Broderick's father eventually called for help and doctors found signs of abuse shortly after the child arrived at the hospital on Jan. 19, police said.
According to the criminal complaint, the child had bruises on his back, elbow, knees and shoulder. His ribs, tibia and femur were fractured in several spots, and doctors reported some of the injuries were so old, they had already begun to heal, the complaint said.
One doctor wrote, "These injuries are the result of physical child abuse. The baby has been abused on more than one occasion. If he is returned to his previous environment, he is at extremely high risk of re-injury and/or death."
Broderick and Abare are being held in the Allegheny County Jail on child abuse charges.
Just before her arrest, Broderick posted on Facebook that it was her "worst nightmare" and asked for prayers for her, Abare and their son.
Fiorentini said the baby is currently in the care of Broderick's father and that she had evicted the couple.

    Couple Accused of Abusing Baby
A Bridgeville couple is accused of abusing their young son after hospital staff found the baby to have leg fractures and several broken ribs.
Bridgeville couple is accused of abusing their young son after hospital staff found the baby to have two broken legs and several broken ribs, some of which had previously healed.

Allegheny County police detectives arrested Eric Abare, 25, and Kelly A. Broderick, 28, both of 844 McLaughlin Run Road, and charged them with abusing the 3-month-old boy when the couple brought him to Children’s Hospital on Jan. 19.

Investigators said the couple told them the baby, who was not identified by police, had rolled off the bed and fallen onto a computer monitor at their McLaughlin Run Road apartment. However, injuries found on the baby indicated abuse, according to criminal complaints supporting the arrests.

Dr. Rachel Berger, who examined the baby at the hospital, told police the baby had multiple bruises on his back, elbow, knees and shoulders.
“These injuries are the result of physical child abuse,” Berger wrote in a report to investigators that was included in the criminal complaint. “This baby has been abused on more than one occasion.”

But when investigators questioned Abare the following day, he blamed the injuries on a friend who was wanted by police and staying with the couple. Abare said Matt Thompson took care of the child at times and said he must have injured the boy, according to the criminal complaint.

It wasn’t until Abare claimed the child fell off the bed that they heard a “crunching” sound in the baby’s back. But that explanation didn’t fly with the doctor who examined the baby.

“Given the extent of these injuries, it is difficult to imagine that the adults living with him would not have recognized that there was something wrong with the baby,” Berger wrote in her report. “His extreme fussiness is, in hindsight, almost certainly due to pain.”

Broderick said the couple knew something was wrong with the child on Jan. 19, but did not want to call an ambulance because they didn’t want “too much drama,” according to the complaint. They spent most of the day trying to find a ride before Broderick’s father called 911 and requested and ambulance.

Children and Youth Services took custody of the baby before handing him over to Broderick’s father.

Abare was charged on Feb. 27 with endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of aggravated assault, and is in Allegheny County Jail on $50,000 bond. Broderick was charged on that same date with endangering the welfare of a child and jailed on $20,000 bond.

What was the purpose of injuring the infant? What in the hell did this precious lil' bundle ever do to you that would make you hurt him so? If you're so selfish that you honestly don't want to care for a baby, PLEASE by all means die, so the baby can be given to someone who will take care of him and love him, you obviously don't. If you did, he wouldn't have all these injuries suggesting abuse.

I didn't see anything in the articles that suggested the baby has OI (Osteogenesis Imperfecta) so I can only assume this was outright abuse. For that, there is *NO* excuse. Fucking kill yourselves already. You're a waste of resources and don't deserve to keep living. Yes, I just JUDGED you. You asked for it the moment that innocent lil' baby became injured.

they heard a “crunching” sound in the baby’s back
    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd be providing a ton of drama if I heard crunching coming from my child's body. Three little months old! And who the hell leaves a 3 month old baby in the care of "a friend who was wanted by police"?!!! Yeah, that's a reliable reference for a babysitter. . . .
