    FREDERICKSBURG - Police have charged a 49-year-old man with sexually assaulting his 5-year-old neighbor in Fredericksburg.


    Stephen R. Polakowski faces two counts of aggravated sexual battery. The incidents took place in 2011, according to investigators.

    Polakowski was arrested after Fredericksburg Police heard from a concerned neighbor at the Commons at Cowan Boulevard. Authorities spoke with the alleged victim and confirmed the accusations.

    Police say Polakowski is an acquaintance of the girl's family, and lives in the same apartment complex. He is being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
