A 22-year-old Grovetown man has been arrested after investigators say he put his five year old daughter in the hospital.
Willie Clifford Jones is currently being held in the Richmond County Jail, facing charges of first degree child cruelty.

5-year-old in critical condition; father charged with child cruelty

A 5-year-old is in critical condition after being abused by her father Sunday night, police said.

Investigators were called to Doctors Hospital where the child had been brought around 9 p.m. after she became unresponsive in her father’s home on the 2900 block of Gordon Highway. The child was transported to Medical College of Georgia with a brain bleed.

Police said Jones had been caring for the child during the past month while her grandmother, who she lives with, was having surgery.

Details are not being released on the object Jones used on the child. Police are also investigating the circumstances that led to the charge of abuse.

Then, when grandma needs some time to herself for medical reasons, just be a total bastard to your child, rather than stepping up for a while and taking care of her. This asshole had to have beaten her so hard, so many times. I have a five year old and she is such a bright light in our lives. I don't get how these small-dicked fuckers can hurt kids. How they can beat a poor baby until he or she is dead or near death is beyond me. He looks like he hasn't had much sleep recently. Good luck getting shut-eye in the pokey, fucker.

Father fatally beat daughter because she didn't know ABCs, assistant district attorney says

Willie Jones, who is charged with murder in the death of his 4-year-old daughter, is led into court for his bond hearing. Jones was denied bond.

A 4-year-old girl beaten to death last month received her fatal injuries because she didn’t know her ABCs, Assistant District Attorney Natalie Paine said Friday during a bond hearing for Willie Jones.
Jones, 22, is charged with murder in the death of his daughter, who was staying with him for two weeks while her grandmother recovered from surgery. Jones spent little time with his daughter, but it was hoped they could establish a better bond during their time together, Paine said.

Instead, numerous abuses were committed against the child, which Paine listed before Superior Court Judge William Fleming, who denied bond for Jones.

Paine said there were photos of Jones beating and dragging the child from the time she moved in with him Feb. 27. The girl was being punished for not knowing her ABCs or 123s, Paine said.

When the child was taken to the emergency room March 11, her body was covered in welts and bruises. Her back was striped with second-degree burns.

Paine said the girl’s injuries were caused by Jones beating her head with a shoe, a belt and a slender plastic rod used to open blinds. Both the belt and the rod broke from the force of Jones’ beatings, Paine said.

Jones apparently felt bad about the abuse and took the girl to the gas station to get candy. But witnesses at the store saw him taunt the girl, telling her to pick out candy then yelling at her, Paine said.

Jones was arrested on suspicion of child cruelty when his daughter was brought to the hospital. When he was informed she was taken off life support six days later, his response, according to Paine, was: “Man, I’m going away for life now.” [...]

Dad of the year. Still thinking only of himself even after being told his daughter had died. She was obviously less than nothing to that dickless POS.

Obviously there was good reason for her to be living with her granny. Gran managed to keep her alive and well for 4yrs, buttboil couldn't even manage that task for 2 weeks.

Aw, geez, what a f***ing prick! That poor, scared, aching little child was probably trying so hard not to make him angry with her again, and all he could do was be a s***, over and over again. He's damaged and needs to be put down with prejudice.

I suppose it's not worth saying at this point that little ones take time to learn their letters and numbers, and they don't learn them through whipping. Personally, I think that was just his excuse of the moment to be an asswipe. He could as easily have been whipping her over the mess she made getting a drink or over the words she used to ask for something -- or the bare fact she asked for something.
