Flint Police are investigating the death of a 6-year-old Wayne County girl.
The child, identified by family as Avril Johnson, died Wednesday night in Flint.
Court documents show she arrived at the hospital in full cardiac arrest with burns, bruises, open sores and possibly both arms broken.
Her mother remains in custody, in Flint, as the investigation continues.
Court documents, filed by the Genesee County Prosecutor's Office to place Avril's 9-year-old sister in foster care, show that
sister told investigators her mom came to Flint Wednesday to bring the child to the hospital.
The sister said
Avril fell down the stairs Friday, one week ago, at least that's what her mother told her.
Court documents reveal Avril was brought into the emergency room at McLaren by ambulance
alone.
The child's mother did not go into her room to check on her and did not show any emotion towards the situation, according to court documents.
Flint Police tells ABC12, there are reports of abuse, dating back to 2010, in Wayne County.
Hospital staff reported other injuries, in various stages of healing, on the girl's body, according to a police report.
Court documents also detail Avril older sister telling investigators her mother bought a stethoscope, bandages and cotton balls to take care of her and that Avril had told their mother she was hurting.
"Mom used the stethoscope to listen to Avril's heart," the sister said.
Friday, Flint Police had said early autopsy reports show the child (Avril) had a severe case of pneumonia.
