Satara Stratton Missing Since October *found*

    Satara Stratton

When Satara Stratton moved to Los Angeles from Chattanooga, Tenn., last June she was looking for fame.
Now police are looking for her because she has been reportedly missing since October 25.Stratton -- who used the stage name "Satara Silver" -- came to Los Angeles to pursue acting, but other than a few small roles in indie films and a job at a Disney Store on Santa Monica Boulevard, her showbiz career had yet to take flight.

Now her mother, Sharon Stratton, a university professor, fears her daughter is under the influence of a registered sex offender and addicted to drugs, according to ABC News.

Sharon reported her daughter's disappearance, according to Culver City Patch . Before she vanished, her mother said that she often called or texted daily and, in fact, had been planning a trip home around the time of her disappearance.

The Los Angeles Police Department did not officially begin investigating Satara's whereabouts until February, but are currently looking for her, even as she is listed as "Voluntarily Missing."

Investigators would also like to question Paul Constantinescu, 46, who is registered as a sex offender on California’s Megan’s Law website for attempted lewd and lascivious conduct with a child under 14 and attempted forced oral copulation with a minor under 14, the Daily Mail reported.
Sharon Stratton believes that Constantinescu, who reportedly runs a rubber stamp company, has kept her daughter from contacting her, either through psychological abuse or by drugging her.

“She sounded scared, she was afraid for what they might do,” Sharon told ABCNews about her last conversation with her daughter. “But she didn’t want to turn on these people.”

Adding to her worries is the fact that her daughter has an undisclosed medical condition.

LAPD Detective Carmine Sasso says there have been some leads suggesting the 5-foot, 3-inch 90-pound actress has been frequenting the 6500 block of Santa Monica Boulevard, near Highland Avenue in the heart of Hollywood.

"She's been spotted occasionally, but we always get the information kind of late," Sasso told LA Weekly. However, even if she is found, he says there is only so much the police can do since Stratton is an adult and can technically live as she pleases.

"[Her mom] suspects that she has gotten involved in something bad and wants to get her some help," Sasso said, adding that If she does finally turn up, "all we can do is try to get something in place to help her."

Stratton came to Los Angeles to pursue acting, but, according to her IMDB profile, her roles have been small roles in indie dramas such as "Cult Movie," a 2011 drama whose most famous actor is Lloyd Kaufman, best known as the creator of Troma Films.

Sasso said that while investigators would like to speak with Constantinescu, he is not accused of any wrongdoing.

"[Stratton has] been seen with him, and if he pops up, maybe he can say, 'Oh, she's over there.' We're doing all we can to generate feedback,'' he told Culver City Patch. "The mother is very concerned because [Stratton] is looking worse and worse in the photos we have.''

Mom of missing woman pleads for help
    CHATTANOOGA -
(WRCB) – Satara Stratton left home for Los Angeles to pursue an acting career.
She hasn't been seen since November and now, her mother fears she's caught up in drugs, possibly worse, against her will.
Los Angeles investigators originally listed 24-year-old Satara Stratton as 'voluntarily missing.' This week, they upgraded her case over concern for her safety.
Of course, so is her mother who says there's no way Satara would choose to cut ties.
"You're at a loss, you don't know where to go or where to turn," says Sharon Stratton, Satara's mother.
Sharon hasn't heard from her daughter in four months.

"Not a word," she says. "No text, no phone use at all."
Satara Stratton grew up in Chattanooga, dreaming of a film career.
"Yeah, she was a great kid, really great student," her mother says. "She graduated early."

At 18, she moved to Hollywood. "She had goals and dreams," Sharon says. "She had hopes."
That was six years ago, but the two stayed close.

"She'd call me in the middle of the night just to ask me how to make a cupcake," Sharon says. "To not hearing anything, nothing at all, that's just not like her."
Sharon called Satara to tell her to come home, her grandmother's health was failing.
"She didn't make it here on time when her grandfather died, so she really wanted to see her grandmother," says Sharon.
That was November 22nd. No one's heard from Satara since.
"She had like, 600 friends on Facebook and I emailed all of them," Sharon says. "You know, just somebody, somebody please help me."
    Sharon called Los Angeles Police.
"What they told me was there's too many missing, that they're underpaid, overworked, Schwarzenegger cut their budget," she says. "They just don't have time for this."
    [...]
"I can't help but go to the Facebook page, and go to the Internet and send out messages," she says. "And then I find it's four hours have passed and I haven't got my work done because I've got to find my daughter."
What's most terrifying for Sharon is that Satara had been stalked by a sex offender.
Sharon says the man told her he planned to push her daughter on to heroin and hold her hostage.

What a pretty girl. I don't think she was able to get away from these people.

I remember that when I arrived in Los Angeles at the age of 19, not knowing anyone in this State, or having a place to go live. I was immediatley approached by some guy. I had just gotten my luggage and he came right up to me and asked me out. Not having much experience with men, I took his number. I called a few days later as I was bored as all hell. Anyway, we go on a "date" and the dude tried to rape me...Lucky for me I know how to defend jmyself...well at least I was lucky it did.

Later on when I started meeting people I mentioned what happened to me and they weren't surprised.

Determined to make a success of her new life, the petite blonde also began taking classes and started a job at the Disney Store on Santa Monica Boulevard.

But it was short lived, as she was robbed outside a bank and hospitalised, causing her to miss a semester of school, her mother told the Los Angeles Times.

She added that her daughter's troubles worsened when a fellow employee began extorting money from her and harassing her.

While making a film, Satara met 46-year-old registered sex offender Paul Constantinescu, who runs a rubber stamp company on Santa Monica Boulevard, according to the LA Times.

Police have arrested her on several occasions, with her mugshots documenting how her life appears to be spiralling out of control. Arrests have included possession of narcotics in a hospital.

Los Angeles police are now looking for Stratton, as well as Constantinescu, with whom she is friends on Facebook. Investigators have visited Constantinescu's address, but he was not there.
    [...]

'We're doing all we can to generate feedback,' he told the Patch. 'The mother is very concerned because [Stratton] is looking worse and worse in the photos we have.'

He said she has been spotted at the 6500 block of Santa Monica Boulevard in the heart of Hollywood and appealed to the public for further information. He added that her situation is not unique.

'These young people come out from another state, some small town, to a multimillion population, trying to hit it big and they get caught up,' he said. 'You have these predators who prey on these individuals.'

Police are considering her 'voluntarily missing' - but her mother refuses to believe it, saying that Satara was always in touch regularly.

The last time Sharon spoke to her daughter was in November to arrange for Satara to see her grandmother before she died.

Satara’s grandmother, with whom she was close, died in January and 'she would never have missed that', Sharon told the LA Times.

'She had never, ever done anything until these men came into her life. She wasn’t into drugs,' she added.

Sharon wrote a blog post for the Examiner.com in which she claimed her daughter was in the custody of 'stalker turned abductor Paul Constantinesco - he and his group place Satara into life threatening situations via use of drugs, and coercion through violence', according to the Patch.

She later posted a message calling for help on Facebook, writing that her daughter 'has health issues risk to life, and previous torture by this man lead to suicidal ideas, and he forced drugs'.

Authorities would not divulge the nature of her health issues.

On her Facebook page, the concerned mother wrote: 'Satara is not voluntarily missing; she has had no contact with not only family but friends throughout this occurrence.'

Sasso added: 'On the surface, she’s an adult and can do whatever she wants.

'But you start digging below the surface and you find these connections and you can’t ignore these connections. So where is she?'

I know the girl is an adult, but that's no reason to minimalize or hold back in getting help or trying to find her. Her family is worried. If this girl was close to her family, but has not been in contact with them in months due to circumstances such as the new people who have come into her life, then then alarm bells should be going off for the cops.

She's in danger and the more they pussyfoot around the idea that "she's an adult, there's not much we can do," the more I feel they will be partially to blame should something tragic happen to her.

Find her. Get her some help for her health issues. Then if she insists that she's ok on her own, there's not a whole lot more they can do, short of committing her to a facility for rehab or evaluation at least.

Not calling your family because you are fucked up on drugs or involved with icky people is not a crime. Cops have enough on their plate without running after people that are not breaking the law. Even if, in this case, they do find her, they can't make her call home or dump her relationship with the RSO. The cops cannot go kidnapping folks off the streets because family is worried about them. If they could, I would have my daughter arrested for leaving her husband and kid for a low life scumsucker.

I feel immensely for the mother's position. I am pleased that the cops are at least getting the word out and taking minimal steps within the law. Hopefully, the cops will call the family the next time she's arrested.

the mug shots look like she's just getting sicker and sicker. Is there any information on how long it's been between the last mug and now?

I have a sinking feeling this girl isn't going to be found until it's too late, and it might already be too late. I'm sorry for the mom. I can't even imagine what that must feel like.

An aspiring actress from Tennessee who followed her to dreams to Los Angeles only to end up in trouble for drugs has been found safe after disappearing late last year.

Satara Stratton, 24, was located in "good condition" at a Los Angeles-area hospital, police said Thursday.

Police did not give specifics about the woman's condition, but in a statement back in February, authorities said the woman suffered from "a serious medical condition" and was in need of medical care.

Six years ago, Stratton left Chattanooga, Tenn., for the bright lights of Hollywood, landing a few film roles under the name Satara Silver.

Stratton also had a number of run-ins with police on suspicion of drugs.

"Part of her problem was she was sick to start with," her mother Sharon said. "When she went out there, she became ill."
    http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/lo...142869765.html

Satara Stratton's disappearance garnered national attention several weeks ago when it was reported the pretty 24-year-old had gone from aspiring Hollywood actress to heroin addict who had been swept up in the city's seedy underworld.

A picture of her looking healthy and happy appeared alongside her drug-ravaged mugshot which highlighted the shocking transformation she had gone through in just eight months.

Los Angeles police announced yesterday she had been located in 'good condition' at an unspecified hospital.

Ms Stratton, who is a university professor, said it was the registered sex offender who had kidnapped her daughter who left her at the hospital after increasing pressure from police. He fled soon after and is thought to be still on the run.

Satara, whose screen name was Satara Silver, is now being held in a secure place until he is found. She is being treated for some external injuries and bruising over her body. She is also suffering withdrawal symptoms from the drugs she was injected with.

I am so glad to hear she's been found, and in relatively good condition. I hope they find the infected penile implanted loathesome peckerhead and hang him by his gonads.

To look into the eyes of Satara Stratton is to glimpse the anguish she's endured, and the fog of confusion from which she's trying to emerge.

When the young actor resurfaced last week, after going missing more than three months, she was suffering from physical abuse, psychological trauma, and heroin.

Now, the 24-year-old has been reunited with her family. She has begun detox and plans to seek further treatment. She acknowledged she is still far from healthy.

"It's really hard right now," she said. "I mean, I'm really sick."

The man she alleged was her abuser was arrested on suspicion of a narcotics violation Wednesday, according to LAPD.

Before all this, acting under the name Satara Silver, she appeared in numerous independent films, working with Troma Entertainment and Fire Fuel Productions. She had a starring role in the short film "Fairer Blood."

But she had been missing since last Thanksgiving weekend. She was out of touch with family and the subject of a police search, until she arrived last week at Cedar's Sinai Medical Center.

Clumps of hair had been pulled from her skull. She had marks from cigarette burns on her arms and shins. She had wounds from where fingernails had dug into her arms. And she was suffering from the effects of months of heroin she said was used to control her.

"The first thing I did was call my mom and dad, " Stratton Silver said. "Because I wanted out."

Her mother Sharon Stratton came from Tennessee to reunite with her daughter, who was discharged from the hospital Sunday evening.

The family plans to admit the 24-year-old into a treatment facility far from California.

"I don't want this to happen to other girls, is basically why I'm doing this," Statton Silver said, explaining why she agreed to speak with NBC 4, her only news interview before leaving Los Angeles.

With her mother sitting at her side, Stratton Silver offered this account of what happened: she was 18 when she came to Hollywood six years ago to pursue an acting career.

She had already studied theater in New York, and said the first four years in LA went well. She moved into an apartment with roommates in Toluca Lake, and worked various jobs between filmwork.

But two years ago, she was afflicted with a severe illness. Then, after a stop at the bank, she was mugged.

"I lost everything," she said, explaining ruefully that all her money was in her backpack.

Stratton Silver was hurt so badly, she did not get out of the hospital for two weeks, and she lost her day job. She could not make her share of the rent, moved out, and took to "couch surfing" with people she had met.

"When you're homeless, you wind up with people who are kind of scummy," she said in retrospect.

At the time, she thought the man who let her stay in his home was a friend. So did her mother.

"One day he called and said, 'I'm going to shoot up your daughter with heroin.' That's when I knew he was not a friend," Stratton said.

Her daughter said at the beginning, she did not want the heroin. But she soon became addicted, and "that's how he kept me." She said he also abused her physically and sexually, and made threats.

There were times Stratton Silver left. Last summer, she went to Brotman Memorial to detox. She said he picked her up and took her back, and again later after she went to a treatment facility in Pasadena.

"When somebody tortures and threatens, you go with them," Stratton Silver said.

"She has a lot of family," her mother said. "But we were so far away."

The mother recalled that Nov. 22, 2011, was the last time they spoke by phone. Her daughter said the man took her cellphone. That's when Stratton contacted police with her concern that her daughter was in a dangerous situation.

Los Angeles Police went public with the search for Stratton Silver, and shared the mother's suspicion that she was with Paul Constantinescu, 46, whom police identified as a registered sex offender on probation.

Law enforcement went to the Hollywood stamp business where Continescu worked and sometimes lived in the back.

"He carved out a hole in the wall and would stuff me in it," Stratton Silver said, adding that on one occasion, she heard law enforcement officers nearby.
She said later he took her to a series of motels.

"We were running out of money. Police were on us. I could not take it anymore," Stratton-Silver said.

At about the same time, LAPD Missing Persons detectives, working with Constantinescu's probation officer, made contact with him. Investigators emphasized to Constantinescu that he needed to distance himself from Stratton Silver, according to Det. Carmine Sasso.

Stratton Silver wanted to go to Cedar's, and on March 15, Constantinescu took her there.

She is free of him now, but is only beginning the process of recovering from her ordeal and the heroin. She and her mother expressed displeasure with media accounts that described her as addicted to heroin. She said Constantinescu forced it on her. But she still must recover from it.

"It is tough. very tough," she said. "But I have family now. I guess that's all I can say."

Shortly after the interview with NBC 4, Stratton Silver, her mother and another family member left California by car. "I won't be coming back 'til he's in jail," Stratton Silver said, referring to Constantinescu.

After finishing treatment, Stratton Silver intends to rebuild her reputation and resume her acting career, this time in New York.

Attempts to reach Constantinescu for comment have been unsuccessful. A woman who answered the phone Wednesday at the Hollywood Rubber Stamp Company said Constantinescu has not been there for some time, and she does not know if or when he will return.

A message to Constantinescu's Facebook page went unanswered. Later, the reason became apparent.

Constantinescu was arrested for an alleged narcotics violation Wednesday evening, according to LAPD. He is being held without bail. The Strattons were notified directly.

Actress calims she was held against her will and shot up with heroin

Police did not disclose the circumstances of Constantinesu's arrest, nor whether it is specifically connected to Stratton Silver's ordeal, which remains under investigation.
