Cool. Note that it does not state that Zimmerman was bleeding, had broken nose, was wet, had grass stains on his back, that there looked as if he had been in a fight. Wouldn't that be something critically important (ie: facts on and at the scene) to include? Apparently, there may be a whole lot of facts missing from it. So, right off the bat we have a "factual" report that is inaccurate.

I wonder which one of those witness' was the child? The one whose story they "corrected". I wonder if any is the girlfriend (doubt it, it doesn't even state they picked up Trayvon's phone as evidence / nice and thorough) they have yet to get a statement from.

That report just highlights for me the details in this story that just don't match up. Shoddy investigation = a possibility that someone is getting away with murder. Note: I didn't say it does mean that someone is getting away with murder, but they may be.

I don't know, maybe it's just years of my own having to "pay attention to detail" and doing investigations for military court martials and summary trials that has my spidey sense up in the air over this. But, so far, we've got no mention of Zimmerman being bloody etc when officers arrived, witness statements either "corrected or not taken at all" (writing their name down on a report is one thing - taking a statement is quite another), police telling Trayvon that Z's record was spotless (gee, they looked hard didn't they?), local prosecutor declining to press charges "as investigation showed it was self defense" ALL before they had collected statements from all the witness' including the person Trayvon was on cell phone with at the critical time period in question - the outset of the "confrontation" (ie: 'who' started it).

Nice impartiality and justice system there I tell 'ya. And, that's got nothing to do with race. It's got to do with outrage. That could be anybody's kid, and apparently if the police believe you're guilty or deserved it, it's investigation all wrapped up and case closed. Not this time though, people who expect full, proper and impartial investigations are having none of it. I'm glad they are not sitting quietly because if that's a "normal and impartial" investigation --- just wow. And it blows my mind that such shoddy work is "OK" if someone should happen to say, "go away officer, nothing to see here, I shot him in self-defense". Shoddy work like that should NEVER be acceptable because that is precisely when people will begin using your oversights to their personal advantage.

On page 3/4 it says all that about Zims appearance. Perhaps you didn't scroll down far enough. I did the same thing first time I looked at it.. :) I have never done any investigation so i'll take your word for it on the rest, i was a little taken aback as well how little info there was on a homicide, justifiable or not.

Interesting. I'm wondering if that's the report that was the "follow up report" done on the 28th - once Trayvon's parents became interested in why nothing was occuring.

One of the lawyers has already said publicly that the initial report filed by the officer right after the incident contained no mention of the above, but that the followup report then did.

Also note that it is very clearly marked "Partial Report Only". It is also the narrative of only ONE officer on the scene (Ricardo Ayala). We have no idea what other things are included in the investigation. It's a bare bones narrative of what that officer on the scene did. What the other officers mentioned in the report did or what detectives did in the investigation are not included.

To judge a whole investigation on what an initial responder filed in a partial report is a bit short sighted.

Hispanic is not a race, nor is it descriptive. A person can be Hispanic(descended from people of Spain) and be black or white(each considered a race).It all depends on how far back you trace. I hear "white Hispanic and black Hispanic" more all the time, as we are trying to accurately count out who gets what and how many of what are where.

As for why Zimmerman was suspicious, it probably has little to do with the hoodie and more to do with Zimmerman's position as "neighborhood watch" spotting an unfamiliar person in an area having a problem with break-ins.
