(Reuters) - Neighbors of George Zimmerman say he had bandages on his nose and head the day after he shot dead Trayvon Martin, supporting statements by the neighborhood watch volunteer that he was beaten in a confrontation with the black Florida teenager.

The extent of Zimmerman's injuries could be crucial to his legal defense under Florida's "Stand Your Ground" self-defense law, which allows the use of deadly force when someone has the reasonable belief he could face death or great bodily harm.

    @biteme
What does this even mean? Of course they filed charges because of public pressure. Zimmerman was sent home and free until the special interest machine started up.

A Florida judge Wednesday approved a motion to disqualify herself from the criminal case involving a neighborhood watch volunteer who fatally shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, according to the court.

The defense team for George Zimmerman requested Monday that Seminole Circuit Judge Jessica Recksiedler, who was assigned to Zimmerman's case, be removed after she revealed that her husband works with a CNN legal analyst.

Zimmerman's defense attorney, Mark O'Mara, had said Monday he was confident the motion would be granted.

Recksiedler said in her decision that while the findings on each basis were "legally insufficient" for disqualification, "the cumulative effect of the events and the totality of the circumstances provides a legally sufficient basis for this court to grant the motion to disqualify," a statement from the court said.

This week, Recksiedler is on temporary assignment from the Florida Supreme Court and is hearing oral arguments at the Fifth District Court of Appeal in Daytona Beach, Florida, court spokeswoman Michelle Kennedy said in a statement Tuesday.

Wednesday's order directed the case to be returned to the chief judge for reassignment, who in turn ordered that Judge Kenneth Lester, Jr., be appointed to preside over the Zimmerman case.

Zimmerman, 28, fatally shot Martin in Sanford, Florida, on February 26, a killing he has said was in self-defense. The case has stirred civil rights activists nationwide and drawn intense publicity.

The city of Sanford has scheduled a community meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at a church to provide members of the public an opportunity to discuss the incident, according to the Sanford mayor's office. Mayor Jeff Triplett will be among officials attending, the office said.

Recksiedler said last week that she would entertain motions to disqualify her from the trial because her husband is a law partner of Mark NeJame's. Zimmerman approached NeJame about representing him. NeJame is now a CNN contributor, providing analysis on this case.

NeJame said Zimmerman "contacted my office, attempting to reach me, and wanted to hire me to represent him" on March 13. One of his law partners relayed that request to NeJame, who declined. He explained later that he knew how taking on "big national cases (can) take a lot out of you" and wanted to have more time to spend with his children.

"I decided simply not to," the Orlando lawyer said.

NeJame acknowledged Tuesday, "it's an appearance of a conflict, an appearance of an impropriety" for Recksiedler to preside over the case. But he said he thought she did nothing improper by waiting for a request from attorneys instead of offering to recuse herself first.

"I don't think she did anything out of the ordinary for this extraordinary situation," he said.

Meanwhile, media organizations, including CNN, petitioned Recksiedler Monday to reverse an order sealing court records in Zimmerman's prosecution.

Prosecutors did not object when Zimmerman's attorneys asked Recksiedler to seal records last week. The judge ordered the court filings and other records sealed "without giving the public and press an opportunity to oppose closure," the media said in its motion.

Florida law requires a judge to consider whether the records closure is needed to "prevent a serious and imminent threat" to justice, the media members argued.

The court must also find that there is no alternative to sealing the records that would provide a fair trial and that the action would not be "broader than necessary to accomplish this purpose," they said.

In addition to CNN, several broadcasting and newspaper companies -- including the publishers of USA Today, the Miami Herald and The New York Times -- are part of the effort to unseal the documents.

O'Mara said Monday that he favors keeping documents sealed in this case in large part because of concerns that witnesses might be contacted and in danger if certain information is released.

"(Our) overall philosophy (is) to keep the information flow concentrated within the court system," he said. "It's much better handled there."

As to his client, O'Mara said he speaks "at least a couple times a day" with Zimmerman, whom he described as doing well physically but "frightened."

Zimmerman is scheduled to return to court Friday for a bail hearing.

O'Mara says he hopes his client will be eligible for bail after that hearing and eventually be allowed to go free until the trial. If he does get out, though, the lawyer said, there are legitimate fears about Zimmerman's safety.

"There have been a lot of emotions that have come forward in this case, and some of those emotions have shown themselves in bad ways," O'Mara said.

    Some interesting history on autopsies:

A funeral director recently made national news when he revealed that in preparing Trayvon Martin's body he found no bruises or signs of fight. Further details lie in the autopsy report but the state prosecutor is unwilling to release this evidence to the public, leaving the nation wondering about crucial details in a tragic case. Of course, it's not the first time an autopsy has attracted so much attention in a criminal investigation, but just where and when did the idea of probing a dead body for clues on how a person died come about in the first place? Autopsy comes from the ancient Greek word autopsia, meaning “to see for oneself”. The practice began 2300 years ago, with a man named Herophilus of Chalcedon.

Herophilos was born in 335 BC in Asia Minor but spent his career in Alexandria, which was home to the world's greatest medical school and also one of the few cities that allowed the dissection of human cadavers. Herophilos performed them publicly, so that he could explain what he was doing to the fascinated crowds that gathered around. He was regarded as the world's first anatomist and wrote nine books on medicine, including On Pulses, which explored blood flow and Midwifery, which discussed the phases of childbirth. Among other things, Herophilos dispelled the notion of the four humors, which said that an imbalance between bile, black bile, phlegm, and blood led to all sickness and disease. He worked out a standard method for measuring a pulse (it involved the use of a clepsydra, or water clock), was the first person to differentiate between the cerebrum and the cerebellum, determined it was the brain not the heart that housed the intellect, discovered the ovum, described the optic nerve and eye and expounded upon something called the calamus scriptorius, which he believed was the seat of the human soul. The autopsy was one of Herophilos's most lasting legacies. While dissections were performed in the centuries to follow, it was not for another 1600 years that medical practitioners would again start to dissect bodies specifically for the purpose of finding what had gone wrong with them.

One of the earliest high-profile autopsy cases was that of the great Roman statesman Julius Caesar, who was murdered by rival senators in the year 44 BC. The plotters had presented Caesar with a petition concerning his exiled brother just as he was entering the senate. Cimber, a senator who had initially been one of Caesar's strongest supporters, grabbed the statesman's shoulders and yanked his tunic. “Why, this is violence!” Caesar cried. From behind a man produced a dagger and struck at his neck. Within moments a throng of more than 50 assassins were thrashing Caesar. He tried to flee but, blinded by blood, tripped and fell. Men continued stabbing him as he lay defenseless on the lower steps of the portico. An autopsy revealed Caesar was stabbed 23 times, though only the second blow, to the chest, was lethal. Caesar's body was cremated and on the site of his cremation a temple was built. A life-size wax statue of Caesar was later erected there, it displayed all 23 stab wounds.

Other Great Reads: Roman Catholic funeral customs explained

Fast forward a few millennia to one of the most controversial autopsies of all time, that of Marilyn Monroe. The actress was found dead in the bedroom of her Brentwood, California home on August 5, 1962. A toxicology report showed Monroe's blood contained somewhere between 38 and 66 capsules of Nembutal, enough to kill 10 people. The autopsy, done by Dr. Thomas Noguchi of the Los Angeles County Coroner's office, found no residue of Nembutal in her stomach or intestines, indicating the drug had not been swallowed. Noguchi asked a toxicologist to test the blood, liver, kidneys, stomach, urine and intestines, which would have revealed exactly how the drugs got into Monroe's system. But somehow the toxicologist destroyed many of the organs without examining them. Blood samples and medical photographs also disappeared, making a more detailed investigation into the cause of death impossible. Noguchi had to make do with the simple observations he had. He ruled out intravenous injection of the drugs, leaving an enema or suppository as the only means of delivery. Both were considered unlikely. In the end Noguchi's official autopsy report stated that the drugs were swallowed. He listed the cause of death as “acute barbiturate poisoning” and deemed it a “probable suicide”.

One thinks Herophilos could have done better. Though the early anatomist, who promoted exercise and a good diet, probably never would have condoned the actresses' lifestyle in the first place. “When health is absent,” said Herophilos. “Wisdom cannot reveal itself, art cannot manifest, strength cannot fight, wealth becomes useless, and intelligence cannot be applied.”

A new photograph obtained exclusively by ABC News showing the bloodied back of George Zimmerman's head, which was apparently taken three minutes after he shot and killed Trayvon Martin, gives possible credence to his claim that Martin had bashed his head against the concrete as Zimmerman fought for his life.

The revelation comes as his attorney and prosecutors prepare for Zimmerman's bail hearing today, which could result in his being released from a Florida jail. Zimmerman, 28, is being held on charges of second-degree murder for the Feb. 26 shooting of Martin, 17, which could carry a life sentence if he is convicted.

The exclusive image shows blood trickling down the back of Zimmerman's head from two cuts. It also shows a possible contusion forming on the crown of his head. The original police report that night notes that the back of Zimmerman's head was wet, and that he was bleeding from the nose and head.
    [...]

The person who took the photograph of a bloodied Zimmerman, asking not to be identified, told ABC News exclusively that they did not see the scuffle that night, but did hear it. The person recalled seeing Martin's prostrate body on the wet grass and said the gunpowder burns on Martin's gray hoodie were clearly visible.

The photographer said that after the shooting, Zimmerman asked the photographer to call his wife. When the photographer asked him what to say, Zimmerman blurted out, "Man, just tell her I shot someone."

    Investigators have seen the photo.

Martin family attorney Benjamin Crump is skeptical.

"How bad could it have been if they didn't take him to the hospital [and] didn't stitch him up," he said in a statement to ABC News in response to the image. "The special prosecutor has seen all the evidence and still believes George Zimmerman murdered Trayvon Martin."
    [...]

In a bail hearing in Florida, the burden of proof to deny bail, even in a second-degree murder trial, is higher than needed to seek a conviction in a trial.

"They would have to prove that the presumption of guilt is great, and that the proof is evident," O'Mara said.

In the capias -- similar to a warrant -- filed against Zimmerman last week, Special Prosecutor Angela Corey and her team set bail at "none."

In order to avoid a reduction in bail to a set monetary sum, Corey's team would have to prove its case essentially, something legal experts say is unlikely at this point in the legal process.

I swear everything about this case including the DA reminds me of the Duke Lacrosse case

    http://southflorida.sun-sentinel.com...,4802623.story
After brief testimony from Zimmerman, his attorney argued that his bail should be set at $15,000. O'Mara cited Zimmerman's financial difficulties in arguing for the bond. He also pointed out that Zimmerman has been cooperative with law enforcement.

"He came in voluntarily and surrendered himself to law enforcement," O'Mara said. "He is well established in the community."

Prosecutor Bernie De La Rionda argued that the court should consider that Trayvon Martin "was minding his own business." He was not committing a crime, De La Rionda said.

He said that Zimmerman should get no bond, or if he does get bond, it should be $1 million.

With ABC News’ release of the George Zimmerman photo showing blood flowing freely from his head, the question becomes whether Angela Corey, the prosecutor in the case, had access to the photo before charging Zimmerman with second-degree murder.
The arrest affidavit did not mention the photograph, or the bleeding, gashes, and bruises on Zimmermans’ head. Professor Alan Dershowitz of Harvard Law School stated upon release of the arrest affidavit that it was “so thin that it won’t make it past a judge on a second degree murder charge … everything in the affidavit is completely consistent with a defense of self-defense.”
After the release of the photo, however, Dershowitz went much further, telling Breitbart News that if the prosecutors did have the photo and didn’t mention it in the affidavit, that would constitute a “grave ethical violation,” since affidavits are supposed to contain “all relevant information.”
Dershowitz continued, “An affidavit that willfully misstates undisputed evidence known to the prosecution is not only unethical but borders on perjury because an affiant swears to tell not only the truth, but the whole truth, and suppressing an important part of the whole truth is a lie."
When asked if it made a difference whether the prosecution had the bloody photograph at the time they charged Zimmerman, Dershowitz responded, “We do know that there were earlier photographs before the affidavit was done that strongly suggested blood on the back of the head, and we know the police had first access to him, so if there was blood they [the prosecution] would know about it …
"I've had cases in Florida against prosecutors,” Dershowitz said, “and this is not the first time they have willfully omitted exculpatory evidence. It's a continuing problem. Here, it’s not only immoral, but stupid. The whole country is watching. What do they benefit from having half-truths in an affidavit?"
Dershowitz added, "I'm not taking sides, but I'm insisting that both sides play by the rules, and so far the prosecution is not playing by the rules."

Benjamin Crump, a lawyer for Martin's family, criticized the commission for not letting Lee step down.
"Sanford residents deserve quality leadership in law enforcement who will handle investigations fairly for all people," he said. "If Chief Bill Lee recognized that his resignation would help start the healing process in Sanford, city leadership should have accepted it in an effort to move the city forward."

Judge delays decision on Zimmerman contributions

CNN) -- George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch volunteer accused of wrongly killing Trayvon Martin, will not immediately have to turn over donations made to his website, a Florida judge said Friday.

Zimmerman collected about $204,000 in donations through the website, but did not disclose the contributions during his bond hearing last week, according to his attorney, Mark O'Mara. Prosecutors had asked for a bond of $1 million, but Judge Kenneth Lester Jr. made it $150,000 after Zimmerman's family testified they did not have the resources necessary to meet the higher level.

Assistant State Attorney Bernie de la Rionda on Friday asked Lester to increase the bond in light of the donations. But the judge said he would delay ruling on the request, in part because he does not know if he has authority to say how the money can be used.

Lester and O'Mara both said they are concerned about releasing the names of donors to Zimmerman, who has faced threats since the case began making national headlines in March.

Zimmerman, 28, was released Monday on $150,000 bail, 10% of which was put up to secure his release while he awaits trial on a second-degree murder charge in Martin's February 26 death.

About $5,000 from the website contribution was used in making bond, O'Mara said. The rest came from a loan secured by a family home.

Although Zimmerman spent some of the contributions on living expenses, about $150,000 remains, O'Mara said Friday. O'Mara said he has put the money into a trust he controls until a final decision is made about its use.

Lester asked for additional information about the accounts but did not indicate when he would rule.

"I'm not going to make a snap decision," the judge said.

Also during Friday's hearing, Lester declined to consider a gag order requested by prosecutors, saying it was premature and that none of the attorneys in the case had said anything to concern him so far. CNN was among the media organizations opposing the motion.

O'Mara said he learned about the money this week as he and Zimmerman were trying to shut down Zimmerman's website, Facebook page and Twitter account to avoid concerns about possible impersonators and other problems.

"He asked me what to do with his PayPal accounts, and I asked him what he was talking about," O'Mara told CNN's Anderson Cooper on Thursday. "He said those were the accounts that had the money from the website he had. And there was about ... $204,000 that had come in to date."

O'Mara had said earlier this month that he believed Zimmerman had no money.

Asked whether knowledge of the money might have made a difference to Lester, who presided at Zimmerman's bond hearing, O'Mara said, "It might have."

O'Mara could not explain why Zimmerman didn't disclose the funds, but said he didn't think his client had meant to deceive anyone.

"I consider it an oversight because I don't see anything else that suggests that Mr. Zimmerman has been insincere or dishonest," he told CNN's Erin Burnett on Friday. "The moment I asked him about it, he acknowledged it and forwarded the money."

Martin family attorney Benjamin Crump said Zimmerman's failure to reveal that he had the money shows that he is being dishonest.

"If his testimony at the bond hearing is any indication of what is to come, then the lying has already begun," Crump said.

"This is going to say a lot about whether Trayvon Martin can get a fair trial," he told Burnett. "If he (Lester) doesn't revoke his bond, the court should severely sanction him so George Zimmerman understands you cannot lie to the court."

Separately, the attorney said the Martin family has raised less than $100,000 in fund-raising efforts to date, and that the money collected will go toward the Trayvon Martin Foundation.

Crump said his firm will not collect a fee in any of the criminal proceedings.

"If we collect any money, it will be from a civil lawsuit and not from any donor money," he said.

    Zimmerman's MySpace page from 2005 ...
There are several photos of Zimmerman on the page, and in one of them he appears to be wearing the same orange polo shirt that he donned in his 2005 police mug shot. Zimmerman used the name “Joe G.” on the site, and posted a biography that mentions he grew up in Manassas, Va., had recently opened an insurance business and missed all his friends.
Last month, a Zimmerman Myspace page under the username “datniggytb” was taken down.
The Joe G page includes a missive written in street slang.
“I dont miss driving around scared to hit mexicans walkin on the side of the street, soft ass wanna be thugs messin with peoples cars when they aint around (what are you provin, that you can dent a car when no ones watchin) dont make you a man in my book,” the 2005 Myspace page said. “Workin 96 hours to get a decent pay check, gettin knifes pulled on you by every mexican you run into!”
Another line suggested his friends went to jail and did not rat him out. “They do a year and dont ever open thier [sic] mouth to get my ass pinched.”
The pictures posted on the page including several with an ethnically diverse group of friends. The blog section boasts about having two felonies knocked down to misdemeanors and describes a court battle with an ex-girlfriend. Zimmerman faced two felonies in 2005 for obstructing justice and battery on a law enforcement officer, but the cases were reduced to misdemeanor simple battery, and he was left with no criminal conviction on his record.
Zimmerman’s attorney, Mark O’Mara, confirmed the page was his client’s, and that it was abandoned in 2005.

And THAT, my friends, sealed his fate, though it shouldn't be admissable in court.

Why would something said that many years ago "seal his fate"? Most people do tend to grow up a bit in 7 years. I said and did some pretty stupid things when I was 21. By 28 I was well beyond it and into raising a family.

Why wouldn't this information over-rule that:
In late 2010 and early 2011 George Zimmerman, the Hispanic Sanford, Fla., man who shot and killed 17-year-old black teen Trayvon Martin, publicly demanded discipline in a race-related beating case for at least two of the police officers who cleared him after the Feb. 26 altercation, according to records obtained by The Daily Caller.

The MySpace is just a piece of the puzzle, but hardly the only piece and far from the most recent.

"People", yes, but hopefully not a jury. It may make it into court but there is a plenty of other evidence that shows that that MySpace was the crap-talk of a 21yo mouth.

Sadly, most "people" won't pay attention to the age of the statements or even read anything beyond the title of most articles. They will only listen to the tweets and Facebook blurbs of the well-meaning but misguided. This case has proven that over and over again.

Al Sharpton had to answer a call-in question on a radio show the other day. There are people out there that actually believe Trayvon's heart was donated and the recipient was none other than Dick Cheney.

    People are stupid.

Well, this shouldn;t be admissable in court. the jury shouldn't even be made aware of it. BUT... they're going to have a hard time picking a jury in any case. This is still seen as racial. Personally, I don't think it's racial, but I could be wrong.

The way they are applying that law there, it seems like any time you're on the losing end of a fight, you can kill the other person.

Yeah, it's Floriduh. The state that let a cold-blooded child killer walk away with a slap on the wrist for lying to the cops.

This "Stand Your Ground" Law is way too broad-reaching. There should be specific situations and certain points of note that prove that it was indeed in self-defense. If Trayvon Martin's autopsy results come back that he was shot point-blank in the back, there should be a statewide screaming outrage. Zimmerman looks confident in court, like he'll be walking out free as soon as he gets this little pesky matter of shooting a 17 year old child who was armed to the teeth with ice tea and skittles. He seems to know something that we don't and it pisses me off.

One thing I am glad about is that he's had to dislose the money his website collected for his legal fight to the court. He'd be called indigent, and have that over $200 GRAND sit in a bank to pay his bills and allow the fam to go shopping. You gotta look good everyday in court, you know.

These stupid idiots really need to be rounded up and executed, before they get a chance to breed
Our current problems exist because we let their parents breed to begin with
The do it for ones, I'm sure they're a drag on society anyhow

    http://www.wnd.com/2012/05/16-year-o...ouple-beating/

“I feel for the white man who got beat up at the light,” wrote one person.

“I don’t,” wrote another, indicating laughter. “(do it for trayvon martin)”

Trayvon Martin is the unarmed black teen who died after being shot by a community-watch captain with white and Hispanic parents, George Zimmerman, in Sanford, Fla., sparking a wave of outrage long after the incident.

But at a press conference today, interim Norfolk Police Chief Sharon Chamberlin said the department is not investigating the case as a hate crime.

Woah...who are "they"? "we let their parents breed...." You are sounding like a Kansman.

My children and grandchildren are black. Were they also to not have been allowed to breed and by whom.....? What kind of ignorant shit is that? I deal with racism almost on a DAILY basis from many different ethnicities. Does that make it right to judge a whole group by the violent and ignorant actions of some? I would never get anywhere in life with that attitude. Just as a lot of white people like to tell black people (well they say it behind their backs....) to stop using slavery and the oppressed economic conditions that have been handed down to them as an excuse, white people cannot continue to have that "entitlement" attitude or pretend racism does not exist or affect certain people's lives because it does!!! The hostility used to go one way....but now folks it goes both ways...all ways!...breeding more hatred and fear. This is conditioning at its finest and it is ugly.

Someone posted above that she isn’t a racist but she wouldn’t want to be in a dark alley with a tall black man…(like my man, 6’2!) I understand that, that is her truth; that is her conditioning, I truly respect her honesty. But no, I couldn’t be friends with someone who truly holds that kind of fear in their heart. She would be scared of my 23 year old son when he wears a scully in the winter! (FYI…that is a knit hat)….

The people out committing violent acts and robbing others in the name of "Trayvon Martin" are not revolutionaries. They are not even conscious. They would have committed those crimes regardless, they are BAD PEOPLE. The death of Trayvon Martin does not matter to them, it is the excuse they scream during a crime to get notoriety and scare people; they were probably laughing about it. It is a TACTIC. It's juvenile and in poor taste to take advantage of one family's tragedy and use it as an excuse for violent behavior. Posting on it brings more life to the ignorance. It brings no respect to the young boy who is not here and doesn't have any account of what happened, who begged for his life and still ended up dead...

I sadly had to laugh when I heard commentaries say "Zimmerman is hispanic, so it can't be racist..." I've met many racist hispanics in New York City, holy shit...!!!

I had to explain to my 8 year old daughter LAST WEEKEND what the N word meant. Further, that led to not only a talk about slavery but why the N word is still used… and used at the playground.....This was not easy for me and she also wanted to know why would anyone hurt others, think they are better than others, or take them as slaves. Very uncomfortable talk. This is her real world. Maybe Biteme should have answered the latter question... This fucking racist bullshit is never going away! Never.

What saddens me most is the family and friends I have had to let go of, the white people I no longer approach or even try to be friends with, because of the very type of comments made above. Every once in a while, people unknowingly tend to show their true colors and you might not like what’s inside. I’ve also lost black friends who won’t stop using the N word and my man and I don’t accept that type of speech by ANYONE in our circle. Sadly, we have a very small -small –teeny- weeny- circle as you can imagine…we both have lost most of our friends. I don't even put pictures up of my family at work, because in the past it affected how I was treated by management and partners who disapproved. Visiting a financial company once, while having lunch in their private lunchroom, the N word was being used (by white workers) nastily, then I hear “hey, can I see pictures of your kids!..I bet they are all blonde like you..” I almost vomited…but I obliged and showed them all, then they almost vomited as I walked out the front door….

You see you are all entitled to your opinions (I respect that) and it seems for those who play on it, racism will stay strong ....but I am conscious and awake and would rather choose to be a part of the solution than be the part that continues the problem....REAL TALK!

Knowing what I know of biteme (and we often butt heads), I assumed he meant "stupid people" and not a particular race. What he just posted has backed that up.

biteme has a low tolerance for stupid behavior/thoughts ... something he often reminds me of and includes me in with. He has always shown himself to vocal but never to be racist. He's a very equal opportunity hater.

That's good to hear because I don't know you, but from how it read, I was alarmed. As much ignorance as I deal with in this city, I thought, nooooo, not on DD too! I am all for personal accountability!

Trayvon Martin Gun Target Being Sold Because the World is Horrible
Here is a story about capitalism and humanity at its most vile and disgusting. Orlando news station WKMG discovered that Trayvon Martin gun range targets are for sale. They tracked down the unidentified seller who said, "My main motivation was to make money off the controversy." Excuse us while we clean up the mixture of vomit and tears that just exploded on our face.

This asshat decided to print up packs of paper targets that featured a hoodie, a pack of skittles, iced tea and a target. He started advertising his product around the web, and now says that they've sold out. The original advertisement stated that the sellers "support Zimmerman and believe he is innocent and that he shot a thug."

    [...]
"The response is overwhelming. I sold out in 2 days," he wrote.

Though, after he realized he was talking to a reporter he said that he would no longer sell the target.

George Zimmerman's attorney Mark O'Mara, to his credit, was eager to distance himself from the product.

"It's this type of hatred -- that's what this is, it's hate-mongering -- that's going to make it more difficult to try this case," he said.

Court records show George Zimmerman had a pair of black eyes, a nose fracture and two cuts to the back of his head after the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

ABC News reports the medical records were part of evidence released on Tuesday that prosecutors have in the second-degree murder case against Zimmerman. He has entered a plea of not guilty and claims self-defense in the Feb. 26 shooting.
    [...]

According to an autopsy report, the only other injury Martin had aside from the fatal gunshot wound was broken skin on his knuckles.
    [...]

The FBI was not able to determine whether it was Zimmerman or Martin who could be heard crying out for help in 911 calls.
