A 39-year-old Santa Fe woman suspected of
slashing the throats of her two young sons was charged early Sunday with two counts of attempted murder.
The boys -- ages 6 and 8 -- both survived and were treated at Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center. They are now in the custody of the state Children, Youth and Families Department.

According to Santa Fe Police Department Lt. Louis Carlos,
Resser drove her two boys to the hospital after the incident, at around 6 p.m. Saturday, and initially tried to blame someone else for the attack.
"She said she was giving a female friend of hers a ride and that woman cut the boys' throats," Carlos said. "And when [Resser] stopped the car, that other woman reportedly ran way. But after talking with the boys, it was clear that wasn't exactly what happened. Eventually, [Resser] confessed to the attack."
Carlos said police believe Resser used a small tool with an attached straight-edge razor blade --
much like a tool used to scrape paint or adhesive off glass -- to cut the throats of both boys.
Police found that tool hidden in a tissue box in one boy's hospital examination room.
It is unclear what provoked the attack, but Resser reportedly told police s
he tried to kill her sons so no more harm could come to them. A probable cause statement filed for her arrest states
she told police "the devil could take them away" and that she's been having "bad thoughts" recently, so she tried to kill them before anyone else could harm them anymore.
Carlos said there is no indication anyone else was involved or had been harming the boys, but police are continuing to investigate the events that led to Saturday's incident. Resser, police believe, is single.
Both boys suffered puncture wounds, police said, but neither had life-threatening injuries. Both were expected to make full recoveries.
