SANFORD, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - A Seminole County deputy reported his son to authorities after he discovered inappropriate material on a cell phone.

saying that he recently discovered a locked folder on his cell phone which he and his wife allow their 18-year-old son, Trevor Glen Lang, to use from time to time.

The phone was submitted for a digital forensics review which revealed "numerous notable graphic files," according to a police report.

Lang was arrested and transported to John E. Polk Correctional Facility. He was charged with 10 counts of sexual performance-possession, possession of photographs and motion pictures which, in whole or in part, he knew to include sexual conduct by a child

what motivates parents to be that harsh? It would be better if dad just spent time with the boy and teach him why those photos are wrong. It sounds like there were some photos but not original stuff. Seriously? By the time you're eighteen, you should know why child porn is wrong. The only way I can think this would be even a little bit excusable would be if it was pictures of the kid's 16- or 17-year-old girlfriend.

I have to say that I commend the father for doing the right thing. We as parents have a duty to protect our children, but we also have to make sure they know that there is a price for doing things that are wrong. A lot of parents nowadays would slide this situation under the rug. And that would be detrimental. Their child would think they could get away wih it, and maybe move on to an even more serious situation. Like maybe ENGAGING in sexual acts with children.

You know what? I agree with you.
I am zero tolerant for child porn, but if I found it in my kids phone, I would take the law into my own hands. My way of dealing with it will be 300% more effective than running him thru the justice system. It might be possible I had never given him my views on the subject. I would guarantee you that would never happen again.
If I felt like I was not effective or it happened again, then I would use the law. That is only my kid. Anyone else, i would throw them under the bus immediately,
