POLICE: Mom Tiffany Foster Used 10yo To Help Shoplift Then Abandons Her When Caught

    Tiffany Foster
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville mother is facing charges after police say she and another woman involved her 10-year-old daughter in shoplifting.

According to the arrest report, officers were called to the Target at 4640 Taylorsville Road around 4 p.m. Saturday. That's where officers learned that store security guards had observed two women, along with a 10-year-old girl, concealing over $600 worth of merchandise under some jackets in a cart.

Police and store security say the two women had the 10-year-old push the cart out of the store. Although security guards were able to stop the child, the two women ran away.

Investigators tracked the child's mother, 29-year-old, Tiffany K. Foster, to her home in the 2400 block of Arbor Pointe Drive and ordered her back to the store. That's where Foster told officers that she didn't know about the merchandise hidden in the cart, but the child had already told police that they had planned to shoplift before entering the store.

The child also told police that her mother and her mother's friend had involved her in stealing merchandise in the past.

Foster was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking and abandonment of a minor.

Good on the child for telling the truth. Please don't make the mistake of returning the child to her mother, where she will likely be abused for telling the truth. Please place her in a caring foster home, where she'll have a chance not to turn out like her thievin', walking incubator.

Post Mom Accused Of Using 10-Year-Old To Help Shoplift From Target

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Police have arrested a woman after she was busted using her 10-year-old daughter to shoplift from a Kentucky Target. Last Saturday, security guards at a Target watched as 29-year-old Tiffany K. Foster, along with her 10-year-old daughter and another woman, concealed over $600 worth of merchandise under some jackets in a cart. Once the cart was loaded the loot, they had the girl push the cart out of the store. The security guards were able to stop the girl outside of the store, but Foster and her accomplice took off — leaving the child behind to take the rap. Investigators were able to track Foster down at her home and ordered her back to the store. She denied knowing anything about the stolen merchandise, unaware that her daughter had already told police they had planned on shoplifting before they entered the store, and that she had helped her mother steal items from other stores in the past. Foster was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking and abandonment of a minor, increasing the chances that her daughter will live up to her last name.
