    Hi.

Unlike a lot of new people here I am entirely new to this site. Someone in another forum linked an article from here about a couple who beat their toddler to death and told police he was hit by a car. I got to looking around and found the forums.

I guess basics go as follows:

I'm 24 and married with a new baby. We live in Charleston, SC but are moving to Quantico, VA in about two weeks. I finished school a year ago and am self-employed. For some reason people buy my crappy art and jewelry I'm not complaining though! What else... Oh, my husband is an officer in the USMC. It has been interesting so far but I was raised in a military family so it's nothing new to me.

I guess that about covers it. HI!

    List of fears?
Rick Santorum and Sarah Palin, otherwise I have no fear.

I'm scared they'll sneak in my bedroom as I sleep.

I remember that thread that brought you here. That couple has a long ways to go to be able to successfully stage another car accident resulting in the death of a kid.
That's what we are all about here, glad you came in.

I wouldn't mind Sarah sneaking in.

Yeah, I found it in a parent's forum. I know it's common for people to say this but having a kid makes these things that much more awful for me. It was disgusting enough before but now it's almost unbearable.

Yet I read it anyway... Hm.

Welcome to the forums....I'm fairly new myself and post like an addict. I read your responses and I think you will fit in just fine here at DD. Military wives rock! (I used to be one, sadly my DH perished in a helicopter crash 5 years ago during a routine training mission) I fear nothing. Okay that's a lie, the only thing I fear is having something bad happen to my kids (which suprisingly this site doesn't help that fear )

Yes having kids makes these stories more aweful because it's hard not to associate those little one's with your own. Since I have 4 kiddos ranging in ages 1-15 I hit every age group just about.

Glad you found your way here and hope to see you around the boards.

Thank you! Being a mom is a trip. I still can't wrap my head around it. I look at him and think, "What the..? Oh, right. I have a kid now."

I like the avatar too (obviously... ha). I had tried to make it this but it was too big and I'm too lazy to resize it:

Edit: It's even funnier because I'm epileptic. Okay, maybe not... but to me it is. (I don't have the kind that reacts to flashing lights though.)

Oh my god. I don't even know what I would do if something happened to my husband. I would live, obviously, but even thinking about it tears me up. It's something I'm "forced" to think about a lot because I see it a lot all over the news, in papers, etc. and always think, "What if it was him?"

You must be really strong, especially with four kids... How do you do it?? I have a lot of respect for anyone with that many kids!

In that case proceed with extreme caution and at your own risk. He's got some funny looking boy bits, and if you're not careful he'll send you pictures!! I know I saw one yesterday, and I was sore afraid!

When my huband passed (he was a search and rescue swimmer/AW2 in the Navy) that was 5 years ago. We only had 2 children. Our daughter was 9 (her birthday was a week and half later, she turned 10 two days after the burial because I had to wait to have him flowm from San Diego to Michigan) and our son was 3 at the time. I cannot described being widowed to anyone who hasn't been through it. There were so many ranges of emotion. I don't know if there is a word or words I could use to describe what it felt like. I have never hurt so badly in my life and I pray I never do again. The only thing worse......well I'm not going to think about that.

My 3rd child was concieved a few months before the 3rd anniversary of my husband's death. I met his father through my husband's brother. I was not told the entire truth when I met him. We were friends before anything happened and we clicked really well. I knew he had PTSD. He was released from the Army because of it. Anyway; long story short.....when I was 10 weeks pregnant the PTSD had won. It was unfucking real. I imagine it's what it would feel like to be hit by a semi truck. I was pretty much right back to where I started in January of 2007.

I had the baby in June of 09, in September I started talking to a friend from high school. We ended up dating and by January of that year I was pregnant with number 4. I've offically had my tubes tied. No more for me thanks. Anyway; my fiance adopted my son since he is the only father my boy has ever known. I love my fiance and I still miss my husband. My fiance has always understood this. He knows that Chris will always be part of me. He was my best friend and the father of my children. Mike is not jealous of that and never has been. Early in the relationship I asked if it bothered him. He said he put a lot of thought into and that was my past and it cannot be changed and he hopes to be a part of my future. He's been awesome with it because I know a lot of widows (support groups...TAPS is the best) and a lot of men can't handle it.

My feelings for my son's bio-logical father are pretty void. I went through all the stages but ended up really really angry at him for doing what he did. He knew he had a child on the way. I have forgiven him and understand he was mentally fucked up. I just don't know.....it's hard to explain. Maybe I'm still slightly bitter that he did it.

Life sucks a lot sometimes.......but you got to hold onto the faith and know that everything happens for a reason. My life has sucked a lot on so many occasions. I've been through a lot. I take it as a sign that God thinks I can handle it. I'm going to quote Mother Teresa, "God won't give us anything we cannot hanlde, I just wish He didn't trust me so much" I feel my life was meant to be this way for whatever reason. Another favorite quote of mine is "The Universe Unfolds Exactly As It Should" so yes I believe I was destined to this life and that I might as well try and make the best of what I can.

Oh having 4 kids is hard!!! My first two were 6 and half years apart (I was 16 when I had our first) and then my 3rd came 6 years later, then having the 4th 16months later was rough. Having 2 so young is a handful and a half! Throw in a 15 year old girl with an attitude and a hyper 8 year old boy and it's a zoo.....though I can't say I would have it any other way :-)

Like I said, you sound incredibly strong.

I'm sorry your ex had a lot of problems that affected you but I'm glad to hear your fiance is making up for that and being the dad your ex never could be.

As for children, I am already wanting another for some crazy reason. I'm breastfeeding so I'm not on birth control at the moment but should be. I think once we hit six months I'll stop in favor of going back on b.c. in an effort to not get knocked up again :P Every day I think, "I want another one so badly!" but when I REALLY start thinking about it, it sounds insane. I think we'll wait until our son is at least 18 months old before trying to have another baby. I sing your praises knowing you have four children, two of which are extremely close in age.

Must be a common thing. My daughter has a 6 month old son and was really digging it and wanting another... now she's nearly 2 months pregnant It's all good. She's hoping for another boy as they have 2 girls too (8 and 4).

@sheevaa I thought the same thing. Glad to see it's not the case. Welcome.
I would love to believe that when I die I will live again, that some thinking, feeling, remembering part of me will continue. But much as I want to believe that, and despite the ancient and worldwide cultural traditions that assert an afterlife, I know of nothing to suggest that it is more than wishful thinking.
