Thomas Presley charged with murder in Blake Litton's “Hit-and-run death”

A toddler's mom is in jail and her boyfriend faces a second-degree murder charge after authorities say a Stover boy was beat to death.

Prosecutors are planning to file second-degree murder charges against 21-year-old Thomas Joseph Presley. Charges also are expected against Blake E. Litton's mother, who is in police custody.

The couple told authorities they had stopped along Highway 135 at Buttons Road in Morgan County for a bathroom break at about 5:15 a.m. when the 3-year-old darted into the road and was hit by a car. The car fled the scene, the couple claimed.

But Missouri Highway Patrol troopers realized the couple's story did not add up, Morgan County Sheriff Jim Petty told KCTV5. No skid marks were discovered at the scene, and Blake's injuries weren't consistent with a car crash. He suffered violent trauma to his head and torso area.

Paramedics rushed Blake to Bothwell Regional Hospital in Sedalia where he later died. The boy died from severe blunt force trauma after he was beaten, Petty said.

"We have determined the child was assaulted at a home in Stover, resulting in his death," Petty said.

The Missouri Highway Patrol initially said the accident occurred as the toddler walked from the ditch line into the lane of traffic and was struck by a vehicle, which left the scene and continued heading north.

Authorities have charged T.J. Presley, 21, with second-degree murder of Blake E. Litton, of Stover. Presley is Litton's mother's boyfriend.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol had earlier released information that Litton was walking in the ditch along Route 135 near Button Road when he was struck by a vehicle, which continued without stopping.

Police were looking for a white-colored vehicle, but called off the search as more details about the hit-and-run became clear.

Investigators now believe Litton was killed at his home and was transported to the road by Presley. It is unclear if Presley himself ran over the boy before calling authorities.

Litton was pronounced dead at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday

I agree with chinchillazilla that even the suggestion that someone would place this child in the hwy and intentionally run them especially since it was to cover their own ass makes me want to vomit! OMG! I hope they get the just sentence they deserve and that this mother fucker is beaten daily on the yard in prison... don't let this POS out!!!!!

So..not that this makes it any better but dear God I hope that baby was already gone by the time these things got the bright idea to stage his death. I mean what is February kill a kid month or something? I'd never put a dick over my kids. EVER! I just don't see how someone can have such an intimate bond with their child for 9mts and then totally forget about that shit once Mr. Good Dick comes around. Its like they become so detatched from their own flesh and blood they don't care if someone harms them!

I hope to God that they were either A) Already dead or B) Too out of it to feel the pain. Like with the Powell boys. I was hoping that he shot them before setting the house on fire. I feel like such a fucking asshole for saying that out loud but I hope some of you can get where I am coming from. I don't wish this shit on any child. Never. But once it's already happened I just hope that it wasn't painful and it went fast.

Sadly, it doesn't look like it. According to the articles, they stopped about 5:15 and the child was "run over" but he wasn't pronounced dead until 6:30.

The Morgan County Sheriff says he tried to cover it up by hatching a scheme with the child's mother claiming the boy was killed in a hit and run car crash.

Sheriff Jim Petty says it began early Thursday morning (2-16) at 5:10 am when Thomas J. Presley called Morgan County E-911 and said a three year old juvenile male in his custody had been struck by a car on Highway 135 near Buttons Road.

Based upon inconsistencies at the scene, statements of the 21 year old Presley and the violent trauma to the head and torso of the juvenile male Thomas Presley was further questioned by law enforcement.

Sheriff Petty tells KSPR News he believes Presley staged the hit and run to cover up an assault on the juvenile that took place at his residence in Stover. Petty also believes Presley told the child's mother what happened and she knew about the staged hit and run but played along "to keep him out of jail."

Thomas Presley is being held at the Morgan County Jail. The sheriff says the prosecutor plans to file second degree murder charges in the morning.

The boy's mother was also arrested. Sheriff Petty says based upon the physical condition of her two year old girl, she will be charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

In all fairness we do not know if the boy was alive when taken out to the road. My husband died around 2:30 pm but was not pronounced until almost 4 pm. He died on impact in a helicopter crash but since they recovered him quickly and had try to resisitate for over an hour the pronouncation came an hour after actual time of death.

So I'm hoping in this case the same thing happened. The way the article makes it sound is the boy was dead and the hit and run was the cover up. The call may have came at 5:15 and then you figure about 15-30 minutes for EMS to get there and then they probalby tried to recesisate (not knowing the boy had been dead longer then they knew) and he may not have been pronounced until he reached a hospital. They probably tried everything to save him and that's what took an hour or so.

Either way this child was beaten pretty severly. His last moments were Hell. It makes me angry this man took his rage out on an innocent baby. It makes me beyond furious that the mother apparently knew of the abuse of both her children and that she allowed it to happen, allowed her son to die and then tried to help cover up the abuse. I would like about 10 minutes alone with her. I'm sorry it tears my heart to pieces. Mother's are suppose to be the ulitmate providers of love, comfort and safety. Her children were nothing other then props to be abused at will. I can't think of a punishment just for the crimes these two committed. Even quartering would be to humane. These children suffered. 3 years old and never knew anything but suffering and abuse. He was a special soul that child...may he rest peacefully in Heaven for all eternity.

His 2 year old sister....oh the poor kid. I bet she witnessed the death of her big brother on top of being abused and neglected herself. I bet she is deeply hurt by his loss. I'm thinking the two of them were all they had being together against the monsters who were suppose to care for them. I'm praying that all her wounds both physical and mental heal and that she finds her own peace in a loving and caring home with a real mother to love her.

The mother of a child killed yesterday was charged with second-degree murder and two counts of child endangerment at 2:15 p.m., today. Jamie Miller Litton is being held in the Morgan County Jail on a $100,000 cash-only bond.

According to the probable cause statement, Litton’s three-year-old child Blake Litton was alive when brought to her place of work by her boyfriend Thomas “T.J.” Joseph Presley. Presley was charged at 9:30 a.m., today, with second-degree murder, may face additional charges, and is also being held in the Morgan County Jail on a $100,000 cash-only bond.

Court documents indicate Presley allegedly told Litton he had beat the child into a paralyzed state.

In an interview, Litton described the child’s breathing as shallow, his pulse faint, and the child unresponsive to his name.

Presley allegedly informed Litton that he planned to lay the child in the road to fake a hit-and-run accident to get the child medical care and stay out of the jail.

Litton has been charged with murder in the second degree for failing to get the child immediate medical care and allowing the child to remain in Presley’s care after being informed of the abuse.

Petty said investigators later learned that Presley had taken Litton and a two-year-old toddler with him to Wal-Mart at about 2 a.m. Thursday morning to purchase food, which he then took to the mother of the children at her workplace in Stover.

“The little boy misbehaved and messed his pants and he (Presley) lost it, I guess,” Petty said.

Sometime between the hours of 3 a.m. and 5 a.m., Petty said Presley returned to Golden Age Nursing Home in Stover, where Jamie Miller Litton, the mother of the two children worked. Petty said it was during that visit that the couple “hatched the scheme” to keep Presley from going to jail.

Petty said the little girl did suffer some bruising and has been taken into protective custody.

"She's a monster. She's absolutely a monster," said Heather Bridges.
Heather and Shane Bridges can't hide their feelings about Litton.
Shane Bridges and Litton were married right out of high school and have two daughters together. When they heard Blake E. Litton died Thursday morning and that Litton and Presley were claiming he'd been hit by a car just a few miles from the family home, they knew something wasn't right.
"From the get go, we both thought the story was fishy. There were too many unanswered questions," said Shane Bridges.
He said it was January 2010 when he noticed his daughters coming home from their mother's with bruises and what appeared to be cigarette burns. It took nine months but eventually they got full custody of the girls, allowing Litton only weekend visits. Last Christmas, Bridges said the girls came home claiming Presley had beat them with a belt. A week later they said Litton's own father called and said to keep the girls away.
Authorities are also investigating allegations that Litton's two older daughters with Shane Bridges have been abused while in her care. Family members say photographs documenting the abuse have been turned over to authorities.
"This guy TJ and Jamie are just bad and doing bad things. That was enough to confirm our fears and not let them go down there," said Heather Bridges.
While Bridges' daughters were safe Blake Litton wasn't as fortunate.

Presley allegedly sent Litton a text message saying he had "lost it," according to court documents. He fabricated that Blake was in a hit-and-run crash because he didn't want to go to prison for the rest of his life, according to court documents. He admitted he had repeatedly beat and kicked the boy, police said.
Warning. The following information is graphic and is disturbing.
Blake died after his liver was lacerated and a blood vessel in his brain burst, according to court documents. Bruises and lacerations were visible on his head, neck, torso, buttocks, legs and arms.
His younger 3-year-old sister also had numerous injuries after she was examined by doctors and nurses. Bruises covered her body. She had suffered previous head and liver injuries and had a broken left wrist.
The little girl told a nurse that Presley had caused her injuries. She said that Presley spanked her and her brother, according to court documents. The girl was then taken to Sedalia for further treatment, and was interviewed by a forensic expert.
In that interview, the girl said she saw Presley "punch (Blake) in the mouth because he 'pooped.' She continued that after he punched him, (she) saw Presley put (Blake) in the bathtub and 'hit him with the bathtub a lot,' and (Blake) 'kept pooping more,'" according to court documents.
The children's mother told police that she was at work at Golden Age Living Center as a nurse's assistant when she received Presley's text and that he thought Blake was paralyzed from his injuries and was "in bad shape," according to court documents.
Litton said she told Presley to take the boy to the ER and she asked her nurse supervisor if she could leave work because of an issue with her son, but her request was denied, according to court documents. Litton didn't tell her boss about the extent of her son's injuries.
The boy's mother said he was "peaceful" in his booster seat and had a faint pulse and was breathing shallowly, according to court documents.
"One or both decided to stage this accident knowing the boy was severely injured if not dead," said the Morgan County Sheriff Jim Petty.
Presley told Litton that he would fake a car wreck. Presley called 911 at 5:12 a.m. and said the boy was struck by a car while taking a bathroom break on the side of the road.
Police initially allowed Presley and Litton to leave the scene of what they thought was a hit-and-run crash. Presley had charge of the girl while Litton went to visit her mother.
Once doctors determined Blake's injuries were from a beating and not a car wreck, the younger girl was taken to an Osage Beach hospital for her initial examination.
Social workers turned the girl over to the care of Litton's parents.
"I hold her 100 percent accountable for what she did. She is by no means innocent. She put the children in the position with this man," said Heather Bridges.
A judge set Litton's bond at $100,000. Presley's bond is a $100,000 cash only bond.

Litton has the two additional daughters from her previous marriage to Shane Bridges. Shane and Heather Bridges are talking to authorities about abuse allegations involving those children. They have turned over photos documenting the abuse to the Morgan County Sheriff's Office.

The fact that he was old enough to understand what was happening to him and who was doing it...and that it was WRONG--- but not old enough yet to understand why someone would ever hurt him like that, breaks my heart. I can't help to think about my own boys when I read these stories. The other fact that disturbs me the most is that his sister watched it happen. Do you think she will ever forget that? She won't. She has a long, tough road ahead of her.

I really wish the father and step mother of the older girls reported the abuse. I know they got custody of his kids and kept them safe but what about the babies?
