Today is a freaky day in the news today!
First, this poor woman was snatched off the street in Troy, MO, in broad daylight and in front of witnesses. Troy is north of St. Louis, full of corn fields and cows, and not so many BMWs, so the car kinda stood out. That, and the fact that the guy was wearing a ski mask and it's 42 degrees here. So local law enforcement was hunting for this car when the victim escaped in Wright City, 15 to 20 miles south.
OOOO more details- press conference on TV now!
Woman, 19, was driving down the road in her BMW when she noticed that her trunk was ajar. She pulled over and the masked man jumped out of the trunk, over-powed her, and stuffed her into the trunk. When the car stopped at a gas station in Wright City, she pulled a cord in the trunk that popped it open and she ran off to a Good Samaritan, who called police. While the bad guy was masked, the victim and police believe John Paul Hinds, ex boyfriend, is behind the abduction. He was reached by phone in Bloomington IL, which is 3 and a half hours away from Wright City, and denies involvement. I don't know how he could abduct his ex-girlfriend around 8am, drive her around, lose her, and then haul ass to Bloomington before 11:30am, but I guess it is possible... if he drove reeeeeeeally fast.
Needless to say, Lincoln County Sheriff is still investigating.
