Chicago, IL – A 65-year-old woman in Chicago has been arrested and charged with abusing two infants in her care after a hidden camera captured her physically abusing them. The mother of two*eight-month-old boys*installed the camera after a doctor noticed*bruising*on one of the boys and advised her to install a hidden surveillance camera. When the boys’ parents reviewed the video captured by the newly installed “nanny cam,” they watched in*disbelief*as the children’s caregiver, 65-year-old Alice E. Vesely, *could be seen slapping, kicking, punching, smothering, grabbing, tossing, and recklessly lifting the twins by their arms and clothing. The parents turned the video over to police who arrested Vesely and charged her with*two counts of aggravated battery to a child. She is currently in jail on a $300,000 bond. I always admire the parents who take the logical approach in these situations and contact police after discovering the abuse of their children. I would hope I would behave in the same fashion and not satisfy my need to confront the abuser and beat the life out of them.
