OSPREY, FL. - An Osprey couple has been arrested on child neglect charges for leaving their little girl alone while they went and bought drugs.

Sarasota County Sheriff's Deputies say 38-year-old Deanne Owen and 40-year-old Chaske Owen left the girl home alone while they went to Gillespie Avenue to buy crack cocaine and smoke it.

The girl's father says they left the 4-year-old unsupervised for nearly six hours.

Both parents admitted to heavily drinking along with the drug use.

The Department of Children and Families took custody of the girl, and according to her mother, it's not the first time.

Chaske Owen is charged with domestic battery and child neglect. He is still in the Sarasota County Jail on $20,000 bond. Deanne Owen is charged with two counts of child neglect. She has bonded out of jail.

No kidding. I hate to say this but from reading this board i am left with the impression DCF only hires morons, sex offenders or idiots in some states. Lets hope this was the last time they will have to remove the child from these so called parents.
