Michael Anthony Foster, 41, was convicted for causing serious bodily injury to a child on Wednesday. He must serve at least 30 years in prison before he's eligible for parole.
"This was an incredibly emotional and moving situation for everyone involved," said Kevin Boneberg, assistant district attorney for Tarrant County. "Euphrate's condition was grave and though he was rescued by one person, it was really the combined effort of the entire child abuse community and his new parents who saved his life."
Euphrates and his three siblings were taken by Child Protective Services after a friend of Foster's wife called police to report the 7-month-old's condition. Weighing 8.3 pounds, Euphrates was days away from death, prosecutors say.
Euphrates has since been adopted and is in excellent condition, according to the DA's office.
