KANSAS CITY, KS (KCTV) -
Fourteen couples, many of whom are from the Kansas City area, are one step closer to seeing justice reached in an adoption scam that has cost them thousands of dollars and a lot of heartache.
In federal court Monday, 35-year-old Roxanne Janel Jones pleaded guilty to running an adoption scam in which she faked a pregnancy with twins in order to swindle money and gifts from the couples.

The couples from Kansas, Minnesota, Georgia, California, Tennessee and Massachusetts gave her gifts like grocery store gift cards, cash, meals and even massages.
During an interview with CBS, Jones says she was pregnant with twins when questioned on hidden camera.
A CBS reporter asked, "You are pregnant correct?" Jones answered, "Yeah." The reporter then asked, "Boy,girl...two boys..two girls? Jones replied,"A boy an a girl."
Jones is set to be sentenced on March 12 and could face more than 20 years in jail.
A man who helped her with the scam also pleaded guilty and will also be sentenced March 12.
