I am 31 years old and I have 2 children. For one I have never taken them to a party. Two I have never lost them. Three I have never been charged with a crime.. I think I can sit here with my head held high. Also I stand by my opinion because I know the court system. They often drop charges even if they think the person guilty. It is all based on how much evidence they have and how likely they think it is they can get a conviction. Just because your sister cut a deal that doesn't make her innocent.

A judge delayed sentencing and granted a request for a mental competency hearing Wednesday for a mother accused of child neglect after her daughter was kidnapped and left in a field.

Circuit Judge Margaret Hudson was expecting to sentence Leah Wiley based on her Sept. 5 no contest plea to the neglect charge.

During Wednesday's sentencing hearing Wiley initially withdrew the plea, then her attorney Tammy Jacques asked instead for a continuance saying she was concerned whether her client was competent to proceed.

Jacques said during a break in the proceedings that Wiley disclosed for the first time she suffered from a bi-polar disorder and had not been taking her medication.

“I knew she was afraid, but what she indicated to me goes beyond typical fear,” Jacques told the court. “I believe it is in her best interest to move forward (with the plea, but have Wiley seen by a court appointed psychologist).”

The courtroom drama came two days after Carlos Torres Rivera was sentenced to 15 years in state prison for the Nov. 25, 2011 incident where he kidnapped Wiley's 1-year-old daughter out of anger for being interrupted while having paid sex with Wiley at a party near Seville.

A sheriff's report said Wiley left the little girl alone on a couch while she went into a bedroom with Rivera.

Prior to his sentencing Monday, Rivera pleaded no contest to kidnapping and child abuse charges.
