DELTA — Police are searching for a longtime Delta resident who has not been heard or seen from in 21 days, officials said Friday.
Catherine Rachel Francis-Dessert, a 64 year-old woman who also goes by the names Kate or Cat, was last seen May 9 at an address in the city of Delta.
She is a protected party, meaning she was protected from another individual by a restraining order. Police contacted the person from whom Francis-Dessert was protected, and initiated an ongoing investigation, said Jamie Head of the Delta Police Department.
The woman’s neighbors did not report hearing or seeing anything suspicious, Head said.
“Everything’s been really quiet for several weeks, well beyond the time frame that she’s gone missing,” said Head. Police have also searched the missing woman’s home.
“We’ve exhasuted all of our avenues here in our area in trying to locate her,” she said. “We have searched her house, her friend’s house ... we have not come up with her yet.”
Francis-Dessert has family in Denver, Colorado Springs, Phoenix and San Diego. Police suspect that she may be en-route to those areas. She’s lived in Delta for more than 20 years, according to police.
Francis-Dessert is described as 5-feet-4-inches tall, weighing about 135 lbs and having brown eyes and black hair.
“We are concerned for her welfare. It’s not like her not to have contact with friends or family for this long,” said Head.
