Baby Rape: How Do These People Find Each Other? Will Gaskin & Desiree Chapman Charged

Sheriff’s office spokesman Sgt. Don Thompson said detectives arrested William Paul Gaskin, 40, on April 29 for sexually abusing a 3-year-old girl while he was babysitting her. The spokesman said the roommate of the child’s parents came home, found Gaskin abusing the child and reported it to the child’s mother, who later called sheriff’s deputies.

According to Thompson, on Aug. 18, while Gaskin was still in jail, a father and former roommate of Gaskin told Beaverton police his 5-year-old daughter had also been abused by Gaskin.

Gaskin would babysit her with his girlfriend, 22-year-old Desiree Chapman, while the girl's father was at work.

The case was turned over to Washington County detectives. The child told detectives Gaskin sexually abused her and Chapman was there when it occurred, Thompson said.

On Aug. 30, detectives served a search warrant at Gaskin’s home, where they found evidence of the abuse of the 5-year-old girl, Thompson said.

Sheriff’s detectives believe Gaskin and Chapman babysat many children in the past and that Chapman may have solicited babysitting services.

Detectives are concerned there may be more victims who have not reported the abuse because they are so young.

The case was presented to a grand jury on Sept. 15 and Gaskin was subsequently charged with four counts of first-degree sodomy, two counts of first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree unlawful sexual penetration and one count of using a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct.

Chapman, Thompson said, on Sept. 16 was arrested on accusations of two counts of first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree criminal mistreatment and one count each of first-degree sodomy and using a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct. Both Chapman and Gaskin are being held in the Washington County Jail.

Several of the charges that Gaskin and Chapman face are Measure 11 crimes that carry mandatory minimum prison sentences. Because the children were younger than 12 years old at the time of the abuse, Gaskin and Chapman could each face 25 years in prison, under Jessica's Law, Thompson said.

Oh, there are websites that have forums and message boards just for these people. Until I started doing some research and so forth for some volunteer work I was doing, I was completely naive about this stuff. I got my eyes opened real quick.

They sometimes arrange to meet in person, very cautiously, of course, in case it's an undercover cop that they might be talking to. The wonderfully anonymous internetz, you know. Some even arrange trips together, like to Thailand and other places.

I am making myself sick here, but you get my drift, I hope.

Sometimes the women who participate in these horrendous crimes do so just to please/keep their pervo men. It's amazing the lengths some women will go to- rape, murder. Then again, to participate in something as vile as baby rape, there has to be something evil already lurking inside of them. It's sick!

I've been convinced of some kinky things in my life. Only because I wanted to - nothing to keep/woo a penis, though. And especially nothing that would land me in jail, make me puke, or intentionally cause harm. Maybe I've been lucky that all the penis I have associated with have been somewhere above the level of pond scum. Granted, a few were pretty scummy, but that's a different kind of pond scum.

Exactly! I always wonder the same thing when I read about some mother allowing her new boyfriend to abuse her children. Selfish women with no self esteem can be so desperate for 'love' that they will turn a blind eye to almost anything their penis does. It's pathetic. It's definitly not an excuse and I really don't feel bad for a women who chooses her man over her morals.

A Washington County judge has found a babysitter guilty of sexually abusing two young girls.

William Gaskin will be sentenced on June 19.

Authorities said his victims were just 3 and 5 years old when the abuse started.
