According to San Diego police, shortly after 11:15 a.m., a white 4-door Toyota Camry drove onto the mall property on the side of the mall where Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus are located.
The car stopped in front of the Ben Bridge Jeweler store, and police said two white men armed with handguns and wearing masks exited the vehicle and entered the business. Police said the men smashed display cases inside the store and took an unknown amount of items.
The men then fled the store and entered the white sedan driven by a third white man wearing a mask who was also armed, police said.
A short time later, the car was found abandoned in the parking lot of a nearby Wells Fargo bank. Police confirmed that the Camry was reported stolen earlier Friday.
According to 10News photographer Maxwell Gardiner, roughly 20 police officers were in the area with dogs and rifles as part of the search for the men. The majority of the search took place between the Wells Fargo and a parking structure on the mall property.
It was initially reported that shots were fired during the robbery, but authorities confirmed that no shots were fired during the incident. Initial witness reports indicated the three men involved were black, but police confirmed that the men are white.
In addition to masks, police said the three men were all wearing black hoodies and dark gloves. Police noted two of the men were wearing blue jeans and the other was wearing dark pants.
No injuries were reported, and as of 2:20 p.m., police have not made any arrests.
