Background: The Soham Murders
The victims: Holly (left) and Jessica on the day they died
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soham_murdersIan Huntly was convicted in the deaths of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman. On 4 August 2002 two 10-year-old girls, Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, walked past Huntley's rented house. Huntley asked them to come into the house. He said that his girlfriend was in the house as well, since she was a learning support assistant at St Andrew's Primary, the girls' school, and had got along well with them, although in fact she had gone to visit family. Shortly after Holly and Jessica entered the house, Huntley murdered them. It is said that Holly was drowned in the bath, and Jessica was suffocated with a pillow.
Minutes before seeing the girls Huntley had slammed the telephone down on his girlfriend after a furious argument, as he was suspicious that she was cheating on him. The police believe that Huntley killed the girls in a jealous rage. There may have also been a sexual motive. It seems likely that either, or possibly both, of these motives drove Huntley to kill the girls.
After Huntley was convicted, it was revealed that he had been investigated in the past for sexual offenses and burglary, but had still been allowed to work in a school. Authorities were aware of allegations, from a number of sources, that he had committed one act of indecent assault, four acts of underage sex and three rape.
Be NICE to Mr Huntley:
Prison guards told to treat Soham child killer like he's part of the family
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti....html?ITO=1490Ian Huntley is receiving extraordinary preferential treatment in prison to 'keep his spirits up'.
The killer of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman has tried three times to kill himself and the authorities are keen to avoid another attempt.
Officers guarding him have been told by governor David Thompson to treat Huntley - and fellow inmates - as 'extensions of their family' and use their first names or address them as 'Mr'.
In addition, 33-year-old Huntley was given a series of privileges within weeks of arriving at Frankland Prison in County Durham - privileges which others would take months of good behaviour to earn.
Prisoner JG5778 has been given a private room within the health-care wing of the maximum-security jail.
He has a constant two-man guard whenever he ventures out of his cell. Those officers have been instructed to 'humour' him and to play games such as chess, darts and Scrabble with the former school caretaker.
Three meals a day, chosen by Huntley from an extensive menu, are delivered to the 12ft x 10ft room where the pressures of serving a life sentence are alleviated by his personal freeview TV, a Sony CD player, stereo and Nintendo games console. Inside the cell are photographs of his ex-lover Maxine Carr, with whom he is said to be 'obsessed'.
An extensive menu offers Huntley such dishes as Cowboy Casserole - chicken sausage with beans, potatoes and onions - marked on the menu with a 'heart' signifying it is the Healthy Eating Option. Huntley chooses from the list every day and fills in a menu card, like every other prisoner, but incredibly prison officers are sent off to collect it for him and deliver it to his cell.
His cell is decked out with a blue toilet mat, blue rug, a white quilt cover and valance sheet and two white pillow cases.
His clothes include Nike training shoes, Adidas t- shirts, Nike jogging bottoms, three pairs of jeans, a burgundy Ben Sherman shirt, two multi- coloured Levi shirts and two orange Polo Tshirts. He has other T-shirts from French Connection. The list also shows that he owns a pair of Fila 'shower shoes'.
WTF??? Let him off himself and be done with it.
Personally, I prefer this story about him (2005)
Huntley scalded in prison attack
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/e...re/4248052.stmChild killer Ian Huntley has been attacked with boiling water by another inmate at the high security Wakefield Prison, in West Yorkshire.
Grimsby-born Huntley was attacked on Wednesday on the health care wing of the jail, which houses some of the most dangerous prisoners in the country.
