http://azstarnet.com/news/local/crim...cc4c002e0.htmlA Tucson woman is in the Pima County jail, suspected of using ant poison to try to kill her boyfriend and his mother.
Tina Renee Beerens, 22, was indicted Monday on two counts of attempted first-degree murder, four counts of endangerment and one count of adding poison to food, drink or medicine, all of which are felonies.
On June 14, a southside Tucson resident called 911 and said he suspected Beerens, his former fiance, had been poisoning him, said Sgt. Matt Ronstadt.
During a subsequent investigation, police learned Beerens was living with the man, his parents and his three pre-adolescent siblings in the 4900 block of South Mesquite Club Lane.
The man’s mother told officers she had seen Beerens carrying a bottle of pest-control poison on June 13 and her son became ill later that evening, Ronstadt said.
On June 14, the mom got a drink of water from her refrigerator and noticed an unusual taste, Ronstadt said. When she confronted Beerens, the younger woman reportedly said she’d been trying to poison the adults in the house, Ronstadt said.
Samples of the ice from the refrigerator were taken for testing and Beerens was arrested at a later time, Ronstadt said.
http://www.kvoa.com/news/woman-indic...iend-s-family/Keith Boesen with the Arizona Poison and Drug Information Center said, "With high concentrations maybe a mouthful or two of liquid or a powder can cause very serious complications, potentially life threatening complications."
The victims said the water tasted a little funny and when they questioned her about it she denied it at first but later the victims said she admitted she was trying to kill them.
Jeffrey Johnson is the husband of the woman poisoned. He said, "From the beginning it was a shock. Really really a shock. We find out that someone we bring into our home was Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde."
The Johnson family survived the poisoning, but said it's still taken its toll both emotionally and physically.
Johnson's wife Jennifer drank some of the poison and she said she was shaking, vomiting, and that was just in the beginning. She said now it's much worse. She said, "I have nerve damage. That ain't going away. It's like a burning sensation throughout your body. I'm going to have to live with it."
They also said they spent a significant amount of time looking over their shoulder. That is until the suspect was finally caught. Jennifer said, "When we found out she was arrested it was a big relief."
But after what they've gone through they said relief just isn't enough. Jeffrey said, "I want her to get what's coming to her and come to her hard."
They said that's not just for their benefit, it's for everyone. Jennifer said, "You don't need people like that on the streets. You definitely don't."
