    Washington Jane Doe

WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- Federal workers and some tourists looking to rent Segways arrived downtown Monday morning to find police tape, uniformed officers and marked cars blocking their paths.

The body of an unidentified woman was found on the steps outside the Old Post Office Pavilion, now being used to house restaurants and shops.

DC police were tight lipped about the case but sources say she was a homeless, black female -- maybe between 35 and 50 years of age.

Her cause of death has not been determined but sources say she appeared to have been assaulted.

A police source confirms they are looking at video from the area where Jane Doe's body was discovered. The source refuses to say what is on the tape.

Monday night, police reported that they were treating the death as a homicide and said the woman was found suffering from apparent stab wounds.

The homicide victim found this month in the heart of downtown Washington was identified Tuesday by the D.C. police as a 56-year-old Baltimore woman. Police gave her name as Barbara Lloyd.

A grand jury has indicted Maurice Leo Hawkins on a charge of first-degree murder for the 2011 death of Barbara Lloyd.

The indictment alleges that Hawkins fatally stabbed Lloyd, a homeless Baltimore woman, with premeditated malice Aug. 8, 2011. Officers found her body near the Old Post Office Pavilion, less than a mile from the White House, at 6:20 a.m. that day.
He says the reason he had her blood all over her was that he tripped over her dead body......
