A Sioux Falls man has been charged with molesting two sisters and allegedly recorded the assault of one of the girls on his cell phone, Sioux Falls Police Lt. Bruce Bailey said.
Barry Glenn Thunder, 38, was jailed Tuesday night and is charged with two counts of first-degree rape and three counts of possession or manufacture of child pornography. Thunder allegedly molested the sisters, ages 3 and 4, multiple times, Bailey said.
"Our suspect had a cell phone, and he had taken video and still pictures of him actually molesting one of the children," he said.
The abuse of the children occurred between Jan. 1 and Monday, according to court documents.Thunder had lived with the girls at one point, Bailey said. He apparently left the cell phone at the girls' home, where it was discovered by a family member, he said.
This is the third child sexual assault case police have investigated within the past week.
Last week, investigators arrested Todd Ronald Brim, 41, a registered sex offender, in the alleged molestation of three boys.
Also last week, police arrested David Austen Klein, 36, co-owner of Kountry Kare Day Care Center in Sioux Falls on allegations of molesting two boys in his care.
Thunder is being held on a $200,000 cash bond and will appear in court June 12. He faces life in prison if convicted.
