Who the heck knows, she's slid her slimy ass by so far for one reason or another, I think as long as that case is pending to get the charges dismissed (I think) for lying to law enforcement that she'll not have to testify in case she says something that will incriminate herself. Attorneys for Zenaida Gonzalez, the woman suing Casey Anthony for defamation, filed a motion asking for Anthony's secret home address for a trial witness subpoena. Gonzalez is suing Anthony, 25, for defamation, claiming her life was ruined after Anthony linked her to Caylee Anthony's disappearance in 2008. Attorney Matt Morgan said they are also offering Anthony's lawyers the option to agree to accept a trial witness subpoena on her behalf.

A hearing date has beenset in late March to discuss the request by Zenaida Gonzalez's attorneys to get Casey Anthony's home address.

The hearing is set at 1:30 p.m. March 23. It will cover the Gonzalez motion to require Anthony's defense to provide her address for a subpoena or, in the alternative, to accept the subpoena on her behalf.

But the hearing also will cover other outstanding issues including Gonzalez's motion for partial summary judgment and Anthony's motion to compel discovery.

I totally agree. But, with all the bullshit that was pulled during the Caylee investigation and trial, I suppose ZG's attorneys want to play shit super-safe. They want to make sure everything is on the record so she can't plead ignorance or misrepresentation at the end.

He posted a thing on his Facebook a while back, commenting on the people who thought he shouldn't be representing his son. Essentially, he told people to fuck off using very polite terms. I would probably represent my kids if I were in his shoes, with the caveat that in the future if they get into any more trouble, they are on their own. They deserve representation, and as much as it raises my "conflict of interest" hackles, I suppose he's the best guy to do it. I just hope he's not enabling their sorry choices, ya know? Making them feel like they are better than everyone else and can get away with shit because he is who he is....

Casey Anthony: Jose Baez to speak at two meetings


We don’t hear a lot about Jose Baez these days, especially since Cheney Mason said that Baez is no longer involved in the Casey Anthony case.
But we could soon hear from Baez.

He is scheduled to address the American Academy of Forensic Sciences’ annual meeting in Atlanta, which starts today.

Baez was listed as a speaker at three sessions. A breakfast session on Friday is called “Fantasy of Forensics: How Junk Science Failed to Persuade the Jury in the Casey Anthony Case.” A session on Tuesday is titled “Flawed Forensics: Recognizing and Challenging Misleading Forensic Evidence and Disingenuous Expert Testimony.”

Baez will give the keynote to a meeting of the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. The meeting will be June 14-16 in Pensacola Beach.

The group’s website describes Baez as “best known for his role as the lead attorney in one of America’s most despised criminal clients, Casey Anthony of Orlando, Florida. Ms. Anthony’s trial for the murder of her young daughter, Caylee, stunned the nation as the strange defense details took shape on nationwide television.”

I know huh @cubby? The bar lowered it's own standards by exonerating him.

What I am very curious about is now that all the dust has settled, Casey got off scott free, Baez had a rainmaker most attorney would see akin to being made in the mafia, and the upcoming sure to be popular Zenaida saga all make for powerful money making opportunities for Baez. But the key to him becoming rich is Casey. In my mind they didn't part ways, she dumped him.
The reason? Ok I will guess.
She is trying to distance herself from the murder of Caylee. That was another world and this civil suit is small potatoes. She wants no reminders or connection from her culpability in the death of her child.

baez is doomed to a lifetime of seminars, a book that will not be allowed to reveal anything and the hopes that another high profile person will want him. I really hope he stays alive longer than Johnny Cochran did so he can spill something!! You know he knows exactly what happened.

Cindy Anthony: Plaintiff, Gonzalez, not kidnapper

Anthony's team tries to get civil lawsuit thrown out

.....Cindy Anthony has filed an affidavit that says her daughter never implied the Kissimmee woman was a kidnapper.

According to Cindy Anthony, "The plaintiff does not even in the slightest resemble the woman my daughter described as 'Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez'. She is not the same age, race or height and does not otherwise share the physical traits and characteristics my daughter described."

The date on the affidavit says it was filed on Feb. 23.

The defamation case is scheduled to go to trial in April.
